Week 3 Challenge
1.1. Ans;
- Primary load cases are,
- Dead load
- Live load
- Wind load
- Sesmic load.
1.2. Ans ;
- One way slab
- The length / breath of slab span is greater than 2 then it is one way slab.
- Two way slab
- The length/breath of slab span is leass tha 2 means it is two way slab
1.3. Ans ;
- Unit weight of steel 7850 kg/ cu.m
- Soil unit weight 1450 kg / cu.m
1.4. Ans;
- Few sections can be defined using property tap in STAAD pro.
- Circular section
- Rectangular section
- I section
- T section
- Some geomentry sections.
1.5. Ans;
- Primary Beams
- These are the main beans which get load form slab and transfer to column.
2.1 Ans:
- The factors and parameters that influence the design pressure intensity of a high-rise building.
- Soil condition Topography
- Height of the building
- Material type using
- Wind and sesmic design
- Stiffness and strength
- Drift value.
2.2. Ans:
- The load transfer process of a Reinforced Concrete Building,
- Slab ----- Primary beam ---- column ------ Foundation
- Secondary beam--- Primary beam ---- column ---- Foundation.
3.1.Ans:
- ONE WAY SLAB:
- This is the type of slab where the length and breadth ratio is greater then 2
- L/B<=2
- In this type of slab only one direction load distrubtion only.
- The reinforcement required is majorly single mat will satisify the load distrubtion.
- The long span will transfer the load to the Primary beam.
- TWO WAY SLAB:
- This type of slab where the length / breadth ratio is less than 2.
- L/b>2
- In this type the slab both ways the load will be transfered.
- The reinforcement required will be double mat that is more reinforcement compared to one way slab.
- The both long and short span will transfer load to the primary beams.
3.2.Ans:
- The concept of secondary beams with proper sketch.

- Secondary beam is the beam which will be simply supported along the primary beam
- This beam cannot transfer load to the column.
- This beam get the load from slab and transfer to the Primary beam.
- The primary beam will transfer the load to the column this is the process
- This beam are used for reduce the Span area.
3.3.Ans:
- PRIMARY LOAD CASES:
- DEAD LOAD ---------------- IS 875 part 1
- LIVE LOAD ---------------- IS 875 part 2
- WIND LOAD ---------------- IS 875 part 3
- SESMIC LOAD --------------- IS 1893 -2016 , IS 13920 -2016
- TEMPERATURE LOAD.
3.4.Ans:
- The steps involved in assigning Properties and Support to a model using STAAD Pro sequentially,
- Once creating the beam then we have to give propeties for the beam
- GOTO Propetry tab ---- and in right side of the screed it will be Property tab where we have to Define the Material and beam type of Circular or rectangualr with size and assign material type as concrete and click assign to the selected Beams.
- To add support to beam GOTO --- support tab --- create support -- ADD pinned or fixed support --- Once created we have to select the beam and Assign to the given beam.
3.5.Ans:
-
The steps to be followed to create and assign secondary beams in STAAD Pro,
- The process of creating the secondary beams are same as of primary beams,
- We have to create nodes in between the Primary beams and add Beams in between the Primary beams.
- Once created we have to do same process of the it we have to assign support as simply supported on both sides, Define self load and load combination etc.
PRACTICALS:
1. Ans:
2. Ans:

- The loads are calculated.
