Challenge

Week 3 - 2D meshing for sheet metal

Aim:- I need to create th 2-D mesh for the given hood model in the challenge, with succesfully qualifying all the quality criteria given for the model and avoiding as much as trias as could be avoided. I had made sure that no tria must emerge or collapse at the perimiter. And no trias must be in opposite direction.

Procedure:- Step 1. Geometri check for the given hood model is done.

Step 2. After doing the geometry check topo has been done to remove single cones.

Step 3. Mid surface has been generated using the Skin method.

Step 4 Sepaerate PID is generated for each different mid-surface.

Step 5. Cutes over the filltes and at some the features has been supressed to generate proper mesh.

Step 6. Quality Criteria and mesh parameters has been set as per the given instruntions.

Step 7. 2-D mesh is being generated one by one using each mid-surface differently.

Step-8. All quality errors has been removed using different menthod i.e Reconstruction, Reshape, Smooth, Split, Delete element & new element.

Step-9. After eliminating all the "off" from the model, 2-D mesh has been released from the CAD.

Learning outcomes:- 1. I learned how to transform the mesh in a symmetrical feature.

2. I learned how to create a mesh step by step using their PID.

3. I learned how improve quality using different method.

4. I learned to identify off's from the pop-up.

5. I learned how to supress the cuts over the features to create proper mesh.

6. I learned how to eliminate trias from the model.

7. I learned how to keep the parent geometry even after extracting the mid-surface using skin method.

Conclusion:- 1. One must not be in a hurry while starting the meshing process.

2. Things must go on step by step.

3. Mesh must not be released from the FE Model unless it is made sure that no change has to be done now.
