Week 3 - 2D meshing for sheet metal

Objective:

For the given Hood model, Take the mid surface for all the components after checking the geometrical errors and mesh the mid surface with the given element Quality criteria. (Refer the table Below for the Quality criteria)

Process:

  • Open the Ansa work bench ANSA v22.1.0.
  • Import the Car hood model by going to the user/Downloads/Car_Hood.

  • After importing the model switch to the cross hatches.
  • Then clear the geometry got to geometry check and execute the if there are geometric error the select all and fix the geometry.

  • And then Rerun the geometry check.
  • Now go to the Mesh and select the length option and select the car hood and put target length as 1 to 5.

  • Creating the mid surface to the given model can be generated by using midsurf option but for manual method, we must considered the measurement check then go for offset option.
  • Giving the correct width and dividing by 2 will give us the mid surface of the given model.

  • Every time to execute any program we need to middle click the mouse.
  • After mid surface generated we can go for meshing.
  • Meshing can be done in many ways but I preferred doing it components by components.
  • To generate mesh we can use Free option or Best option.
  • Select the model and hitting middle mouse click will generate mesh.
  • By Giving quality criteria there are some min length components which needs to be avoided.

  • To avoid any error in the mesh we can use Reconstruct mesh option.

  • Again select the model and middle click to regenerate mesh.
  • We can use Smooth Option too to smooth the mesh construction.
  • selecting the Smooth option selecting the model and middle click.

The Geometical ckeck, Topology, Mid surface and Meshing according to Quality criteria has been successfull done of the give car hood model.
