Challenge

Week 2 Challenge : Surface meshing on a Pressure valve

Aim: To check the geometrical errors and perform the topological cleanup. Set the target length 3 different times as three different cases and mesh the model respectively to the given target length.

Procedure:

  1. First do the geometry checks to see what are the error.
  2. After getting some errors, we try to resolve them in the faces and surfaces command.
  3. Use a new option to create a new face by clicking the existing surface we select all the cons of the surface and then middle click and then select cross-edge according to surface.
  4. You can use different options to cover the surface like fill hole, fitted option, and planar option.
  5. After cleanup with surfaces, do a geometry check to see if there are any errors.
  6. We delete lines that are smaller than the target length and are not necessary for meshing as it could be a problem.
  7. Create PIDS from the property section and assign them to respective surfaces.
  8. Start by length option give perimeter and macros and target length 1mm, 3mm, 5mm for each case.
  9. Do the mesh for 3 cases

Learning outcome:

  1. Learned about the checks manager's different options.
  2. You can create a new surface with 2 cons and 3 cons.
  3. Always use PIDs view it shows all the surfaces and elements you see on the screen.
  4. learn about different selecting and isolating options for PIDs.

Results: If the target length is larger than the component size. we can see when the target length is given was 5mm and the mesh length for spring was approx. 3.5mm. so we can say that the quality criteria or the target length is given to us should be such that it will justify each and every component of our model.
