Week 2 Challenge : Surface meshing on a Pressure valve
Objective: To check for the geometrical errors and perform topology cleanup. set three different target lengths (1,3 and 5mm) as three different cases and mesh the model.
Procedure
- Import geometry

- Perform geometry checkup.

select single cons to visualize on model.
in the above figure white marked cons are single entities.
single cons in wire frame. - To fix these single cons errors create new faces.
select New>select COONS>Select Loops mode>Select cons. it will automatically select all cons which are in loops.

Now middle click to apply face on cons. It will show a preview select the required face.

- Similarly create new faces for the other single cons.

- After clearing all single cons errors perform again geometry checkup.

After the geometry checkup we found only triple cons. We can ignore this error.
- Now assign PID's.

- Now assign mesh length (perimeters and macros) as 5mm.

- Now set mesh parameters
Target length `->` 5mm
Minimum length `->` 3mm
Element type `->` Tria
- Set quality criteria
minimum length `->` 3mm
maximum length `->` 7mm
Meshing - Case 1 target length 5mm
No. of Trias `->` 8788
Body mesh
5258 trias
Inlet mesh
676 Trias
Outlet mesh
298 Trias
Spring mesh
388 Trias
in the above figure we can observe that spring has not meshed properly, because thickness of spring(3.38mm) is less than our target length(5mm).
Valve head mesh
1176 Trias
Base surface mesh
82 Trias
Column mesh
910 Trias
Overall meshed body

- Case 3 Target length 1mm.
Body mesh
124736 Trias
Inlet mesh
16824 Trias
Outlet mesh
7590 Trias
Spring mesh
10552 Trias
Base surface mesh
2110 Trias
Valve head mesh
28411 Trias
Column mesh
19239 Trias
Overall mesh

Conclusion
From the above results we can conclude that as we decrease the target length number of elements increases.
