Challenge

Week 2 Challenge : Surface meshing on a Pressure valve

1. Import the pressure valve into ANSA

2. Geometry check

3) Apply the boundry conditions

Spring

Valve Head

Coloumn

Case 1 : ( 5 mm)

  • Select the mesh module >> perimeters >> length >> 5 mm(macros)
  • Maximum lenght = 7 mm Minimum length = 3 mm mesh type = tria
  • Upper deviation = 2 mm lower deviation = - 2 mm

Result : The external is captured but internal components like springs were defeatured because minimum length was larger than coil diameter hence we cannot proceed

Case 2: (3 mm)

  • Select the mesh module >> perimeters >> length >> 3 mm(macros)
  • Maximum lenght = 4.5 mm Minimum length = 1.5 mm mesh type = tria
  • Upper deviation = +1.5 mm lower deviation = - 1.5 mm

Result : When compared to previous case the defature is less but its still there and geometry is not captured properly , hence we cannot proceed

Case 3 :(1 mm)

  • Select the mesh module >> perimeters >> length >> 3 mm(macros)
  • Maximum lenght = 4.5 mm Minimum length = 1.5 mm mesh type = tria
  • Upper deviation = +1.5 mm lower deviation = - 1.5 mm

Result : The external and internal components are captured properly and no defature noticed
