Week 2 Challenge : Surface meshing on a Pressure valve
Objective:
The main objective of this task is to clean the geometry and mesh the given pressure valve model using different lengths as different tasks and to observe the mesh quality on each of them.
Geometry Detail and clean-up procedure:
The pressure valve geometry model given for the meshing is shown below:

The given model was found to have few geometrical errors and incomplete faces, so it's important to clean the geometry and make it available to mesh. Because the simulation is to be carried out for the properly closed geometry in order to get the desired results.
The geometry check was done on the geometry and the single cons were removed by creating the missing faces. The single cons found on geometry and cleaned final model are shown below:

In the property manager, the various PID were created for each component which may help us to create the mesh and isolate the model easily as shown below:

Meshing details:
The cleaned-up geometry has meshed with three different mesh parameters as given as task objective i.e., Target Mesh Length = 5mm,3mm & 1mm.
The meshed model are shown below:

Observation and Conclusion:
As per the challenge, the mesh was created for different mesh lengths, and the following details were observed:
- The initial mesh was created with a target length of 5mm which was more than the minimum size of one of the components of geometry (Spring~3mm), however, the mesh was generated and shown in the above fig. This mesh seems more coarse and fails to retain the actual and small-size components.
- In the sequence, the mesh was generated with a target length of 3mm which is equivalent to the minimum sizes of components of the geometry spring, but still mesh was observed little coarse which also failed to retain an actual geometry.
- Finally, the mesh was created with a target length of 1mm, and observed that the mesh was fine enough. As a target length is reduced from 5mm to 1mm, it is also observed that the number of mesh cells increased which also gives the desired results on simulation with stableness.
Note:
The mesh files created with different target lengths are attached as a zip file to this task.
