Week 2 Challenge : Surface meshing on a Pressure valve
AIM:
To Perform the meshing of pressure valve using three different target lengths starting from 5 mm to 0.5 mm
MESH PARAMETERS:
| S.No | MIN Target length | MAX Target length | No of elements | OFF elements | TYPE OF MESH | IMPROVE BY RECONSTRUCT | IMPROVE BY RESHAPE |
| 1 | 1 | 3 | 31916 | 671 | FREE MESH | REDUCED TO 28 | REDUCED TO 19 |
| 2 | 0.5 | 1 | 252366 | 0 | BEST MESH | - | - |
| 3 | 2 | 3 | 29980 | 404 | BEST MESH | RECONSTRUCT REDUCED TO118 |
- |
Quality criteria:
Aspect ratio=3.0
Skewness=0.5
Pid's of pressure valve:
1.Spring
2.Outlet
3.Inlet
4.Valve column
5.Valve body
Aforesaid pid's spring & valve column are present inside pressure valve so inorder to mesh correctly first mesh inside elements of pressure valve.
CASE-1:
MIN TARGET LENGTH :1.5MM, MAX TARGET LENGTH : 3MM
1) Spring
a) For spring i have given min target length of 1.5MM because of its shape and if target length of 3MM is given then it result in more no of off elements.
2)Spring Column
a) For spring column i have given minimum target length of 1.5MM as it is adjacent to the spring which result in off elements at intersection parts.
3)Valve body
a)For valve body i have given Max target length of 3MM because of its shape and did't effect on off elements
4) Outlet
a) I followed same target length as given to Valve body
5) Inlet
a) I followed same target length as given to Valve body
Similarly i followed same for other 2 cases
For removing OFF Elements use grids-Move-set the off element
CASE-2:
MIN TARGET LENGTH :0.5MM, MAX TARGET LENGTH : 1MM
1)Spring
2)Valve column
3)Valve body
4)Outlet
5)Inlet
CASE-3:
MIN TARGET LENGTH :2MM, MAX TARGET LENGTH : 3MM
1)Spring
2)Valve column
3)Valve body
4)Outlet
5)Inlet
Conclusion:
In general smaller mesh sizes gives more accurate results, but the computing time gets significant as well. You should search for a balance between computing time and accuracy..
