Week 2 Challenge : Surface meshing on a Pressure valve
REPORT:
Aim: To perform topology clean up and meshing of provided pressure valve model.
Objective: To perform meshing at target length as 1 mm, 2 mm, and 3 mm with element type as Tria.
Procedure:
- Imported the provided geometry of pressure valve into ansa.
- some faces were missing in the geometry and there were some holes in the geometry.
- faces were created at required place and holes filled with fill hole feature.
- after that PID's are assigned for all parts.
- Then for meshing, lenghts are assigned for perimeters and macros as well.
1.Procedure for Meshing at target length = 5 mm:
- from mesh deck, length feature is used to assigned perimeters and macros and both are assigned to 5 mm.
- from mesh criteria option, target length is assigned to 5 mm and minimum and maximum target lengths are assigned to 3 mm and 5 mm in mesh quality as well.
- Element type = Tria
- after that spot mesh is selected from mesh generation feature and mesh is generated PID wise by selecting each PID.
- mesh generation at target length = 5 mm

2.Procedure for Meshing at target length = 3 mm:
- Same procedure is done with
- target length = 3 mm , min length = 1 mm and max length = 5 mm.
- Element type = Tria
- mesh generation at target length = 3 mm

3.Procedure for Meshing at target length = 1 mm:
- Same procedure is done with
- target length = 1 mm , min length = 0.5 mm and max length = 1.5 mm.
- Element type = Tria
- mesh generation at target length = 1 mm

Result and Conclusion: Meshing with all target lengths is done. the mesh with target length 5 gives bad mesh for parts/faces having dimensions less than 5 mm as shown above, as we decreses the target length, mesh quality gets better with increase in number of elements. mesh with target length as 1 mm givs 5 times finer mesh than mesh with target length as 5 mm.
