Week 2 Challenge : Surface meshing on a Pressure valve
Aim : For the given pressure valve model, check for the geometrical errors and perform Topology cleanup accordingly.
Objective: Set three different target lengths as three different cases and mesh the model. Perform Meshing with given Target length = 1 mm ,3 mm and 5mm respectively with Element type = Tria.
Procedure:
For meshing any model always start with geometry check for that
Go->Check->Geometry Check->visible->Execute
We can see geometry error and we need to resolve it.
Topo Deck
With topo cleanup we will clean our model Geometry.
For Creating surfaces
Go -> faces-> New -> There are four types Existing Surf,Planar,Fitted,Coons choose according to our Surfaces.
Existing Surf: For Hole ->choose ->Existing Surf->Select cons->middle click->Select Face now select cross hatch of the surface we want.
If we want to select all the cons with single click choose
Coons->Loop->select cons->middle click
If we want to create surface on small hole choose
Fitted->Loop->select cons-> middle click
For filling Hole we can also do
Cons->Fill Hole->Select hole or enter hole diameter press select
After Topo clean up again check for geometry check if now we find only error with triple cons and all single cons errors are resolved so that we don’t worry with triple cons now we can move further for meshing of our model
Before that if we have small surfaces on model we have to remove that
Faces->cut->select cons->right click
Now Create PID assign PID
Topo Deck->Properties->Right Click->PSHELL->PSHELL->Name
We have to do same procedure for different parts of the model
After creating PID we have to assign PID
For that Right click on particular Name->Apply->select the surface -> middle click
After selecting Inlet, And outlet now we have to select body but while selecting body we have to isolate inner parts for that we will use PID Region option for visible only selected outer part and now select OR option middle click we will see only outer part and assign PID to Body.
Same procedure will do for reaming parts.
Now we will do Meshing
For Meshing we will set Target length first
Quality Criteria->Set Min and Max length 3 and 7 respectively
Mesh parameter->Target Length 5mm
Mesh parameter->Element type Tria
Mesh->Perimeter->length->Perimeter->Box selection->5mm
Macro-> Box selection->5mm
After Assign length Parameter we will do meshing with mesh generation
Mesh Generation->Spot me->Select PID ->middle click
For meshing each and every PID meshing select PID and mesh
For smaller parts like Spring we have to change mesh length for better results
With this same procedure we can do meshing with change of desire target length like 1 mm,3mm and 5 mm
Learning Outcomes : With the help of Ansa we can do Geometry clean up, create Surface, Delete surface of a particular model and after that we can do meshing with different target length.
Result:With target length small the surface ande the edges of a particular modle is much cleaner and smooth.
Conclusion: We can do preprocessing task on Cad Model with the help of Ansa
