Week 2 Challenge : Surface meshing on a Pressure valve

AIM : Surface meshing on a pressure valve

1. Download and import the file into ANSA software

2. Using shadow command convert the image viewed as wire frame model into normal 3D view

3. using the checks feature check for existing geometrical errors and resolve them

4. As the given model has many holes and gaps to be filled out using fill holes features,
new face command patch the holes in the surafce

5. After geometrical cleanup for errors again run the check command to confirm the quality of the geometry

6. assign PID's to different components of the geometry

7. cleaned up geometry is then meshed up for 3 diff taget lengths

case 1 : 1mm

. . specifing the perimeter, macro lengths, quality criteria, mesh parameters

. checking for the node length after meshing of the inner and as well as the outer components of the model

. case 2 : element length 3mm

. specifing the perimeter, macro lengths, quality criteria, mesh parameters

. checking for the node length after meshing of the inner and as well as the outer components of the model

case 3 : element length 5mm

. as the length of the node was set to 5mm, it wasn't able to create the mesh for the spring component in a proper way,
as the lenth of the node is biggeer than that of the elemnt size of the spring it abrupts the geommetry of the spring during the meshing process and abrupts the springs
original dimension and shape so as to prevent this from happening and as to obtain a even and clean mesh the spring alone is meshed using a smaller value of length

. specifing the meshing, quality and perimeter, macros lengths for spring alone

. determing the meshing criteria for the rest of the components

. checking for the node length after meshing of the inner and as well as the outer components of the model

. when comparing the three meshing processes the element length is critical and plays an important role in the mesh formation
the elemnt length 5 creates a course mesh when compared with length cases 1mm and 3mm as the element length is smaller and as well as closer to the size of the geommetrical
size of the elements which helps is a very uniform and clean mesh particularly in the edges and curved areas element length 1mm specified mesh is the best out of the other meshing
cases , finer the mesh the more the computational time it requires
