Challenge

Week 2 : Basic Calibration of Single cylinder SI-Engine

Aim:

  • To run the SI engine cylinder case at 1800RPM and to list down the foloowing parameters

1) Air flow rate

2) BMEP

3) BSFC

4) In cylinder Pressure

  • To run the same case at 3600 rpm for increasing 10% of power output

Introduction

SI engine is an internal combustion engine and generally known as petrol engine. As the name indictaes In SI engine combustion of air-fuel mixtures initiated by spark plug. The working cycle of both SI engine either two sroke or four stroke. A four stroke SI engine is an otto cycle engine and it consists suction or intake stroke, compression stroke , expansion or power stroke and exhaust stroke.

At 1800RPM

Conclusions

  • The SI engine modelling is done successfully with the given parameters
  • The RPM, duration, and air fuel ratio is taken to compare the performance
  • The brake power (7.1kW at 1800 rpm AND 16.8kW at 3600 rpm) is increased when the RPM is at 3600 RPM
