Week 2 : Basic Calibration of Single cylinder SI-Engine
JORGE LOZANO
IC Engine Calibration using GT-POWER and GT-SUITE
Basic Calibration of Single cylinder SI-Engine
Objective:
1.Run the case at 1800 rpm and list down important parameters
- Air flow rate
- BMEP
- BSFC
- In-cylinder pressure
- Increase the power output at 3600 rpm by 10%
SI-Engine System

Case Setup
The following three cases show the initial 1800 RPM case, the 3600 RPM case modification and the 94.7 mm Stroke length modification, as calculated from the second case and evaluated according the the volume of the geometry cylinder.

Set up
Boundary Condition for P, T and Species

Sequential injector with Imposed A/F Ratio

Engine Cylinder

Engine Crank train

Post Processing
- Engine Geometry

- Engine Operating Conditions

- Engine Performance Predictions (SI)

- Key Cylinder Predictions

- Engine MEP, Torque and Power (SI Units)

Conclusion:
The higher the Engine speed the higher the power, and the geometry affects directly the system efficiency due to the volume of the cylinder, which due to the increase of the stroke length there was an increase of 10% as required.
