Week -2

Aim:

To make a Simulink model of doorbell using solenoid block with the switch is closed the electromagnet receives electrical power from the battery and pulls the metal arm to hit the bell producing sound.

Condition :

create a situation where the switch is closed for 2 sec and then released observe the physical movement of the plunger

Block Explanation :

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->1)     <!--[endif]-->Pulse Generator – the block generates a square wave pulse at regular intervals and block parameters are Amplitude, Pulse width, and phase delay. this parameter determines the shape of the output waveform

Pulse generator parameter:

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->2)     <!--[endif]-->Simulink to PS-converter:

This block converts the Simulink input to a physical signal. the parameters are an input signal unit and  apply  affine conversion the input signal unit is associated with Simulink input signal and determines the unit assigned to the physical unit

Parameters of Simulink PS-Converter

  switch:

tis block controls the extra physical signal. If the external physical quantity iPS is greater than the threshold, then the switch is closed, otherwise it open. the parameters are resistance and . open conductance

Parameters of switch :

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->1)     <!--[endif]-->Battery:

     The block models the battery as a series internal resistance and a constant voltage source . if the battery charge capacity parameters to finite .

Parameters of battery:

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->1)     <!--[endif]-->Ideal translation motion sensor:

This block measures acceleration ,velocity or displacement in a mechanical translation network. The physical signal ports A,V and Preport the acceleration ,velocity and position .Port R relative to port C . the velocity is positive when the velocity at port R is greater  than the velocity at port C

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->1)     <!--[endif]-->Mechanical Translational Reference:

The block represents a mechanical translation reference point. The mechanical translational ports that are rigidly affixed to the frame (i.e) ground

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->1)     <!--[endif]-->Solenoid  block :

The solenoid refers to the wire coil . an electromagnet consists of a magnetic core encircled by a wire coil through which an electric current is sent to magnetize to the core. this block implements the electrical and mechanical. Parameterization is in terms of two points force stroke curve for a 100 percent duty cycle at rated voltage Vdc and rated current.

Simulation results :

2) Aim:

    using thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater &turn on or turn off the fan .

Condition :

 temperature source :20 c from 0 to 10 seconds , 27 c from 10 to 30 seconds , 23 c from 30 to 50 seconds

Fan conditions: ON if the temperature above 25 c ,OFF otherwise.

Blocks used :

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·        <!--[endif]-->Signal editor

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·        <!--[endif]-->Simulink -PS converter

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·        <!--[endif]-->PS-simulink converter

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·        <!--[endif]-->Controlled temperature source

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·        <!--[endif]-->Thermal reference

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·        <!--[endif]-->Thermistor

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·        <!--[endif]-->Voltage sensor

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·        <!--[endif]-->Resistor

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·        <!--[endif]-->Switch

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·        <!--[endif]-->Scope

 Simulation model:

Signal Editor -  the block allows fast switching between different signal groups for better representation of a simulation scenario. The matdata file should generated and then the signal file is connected with the editor and the signal file should imported to the editor for some editing process the signal file is shown in the below picture.

The signal editor is shown in the  given figure :

Imported signal 1

Imported signal 2

Thermistor: this block is a type of resistor whose electrical resistance varies with changes in temperature. Although all resistor’s resistance will fluctuate slightly with temperature, a thermistor is sensitive to temperature changes

Results:

When the temperature is less than 298K

 When the temperature is greater than 298K

Output waveform in signal 1

Output waveform in signal 2
