Week -2
- Make a Simulink model of Doorbell using solenoid block with the following details:
In the above arrangement, when the switch is closed the electromagnet receives electrical power from the battery and pulls the metal arm to hit the bell producing sound.
Create a situation where the switch is closed for 2 seconds and then released. Observe the physical movement of the plunger.
Assume remaining parameters.

This block diagram is represent by using a simscape blocks and simulink blocks. Using these blocks going to simulate.
Blocks such as
- Pulse generator
- Simulink-PS converter and PS- Simulink converter
- Switch
- Battery
- Solver configuration
- Electrical Reference
- Solenoid
- Ideal Translational motion sensor
- Mechanical Translational reference
- Scope
Pulse Generator:
Pulse generator is an analog input that has amplitude and frequency with which input is transmitted.
Simulink-PS converter and PS- Simulink converter :
These blocks are used to convert the simulink signal into physical system and physical system into simulink signal.
Switch:
switch is a device that completes the electrical circuit for current flow and can be controlled automatically and manually depends upon the switch type.
Battery:
Battery is a device that has a positive and negative terminal for the electrical circuit.
Solver Configuration:
Solver configuration block is act as a complete equatiuon for where f(x)=0 where we find the equation of x.
Electrical Reference:
Electrical reference is a reference block with which the system has a ground. (Electrical grounding)
Solenoid:
Solenoid is an electromagnetic device.
Ideal translational motion sensor:
It is a type of a sensor which [provides the position and velocity input for the system to generate output.
Mechanical translation reference:
mechanical translation reference is a reference block with which the system has a ground. (Mechanical grounding)
Scope:
scope gives the plot of output.
Before we begin the simulation we need setup an input parameter. Here pulse generator where we delay second should be 2 sec with amplitude 1 and pulse time should be 4 sec to make it half with 50% pulse widht.

Input :
pulse generator

Output:

2. Use a thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn on or turn off the fan as per the below conditions:
Temperature source: 20 °C from 0 to 10 seconds, 27 °C from 10 to 30 seconds, 23 °C from 30 to 50 seconds
Fan conditions: ON if the temperature above 25 °C, OFF otherwise
Thermistor : Thermal resistor is defined as a type of resistor whose electrical resistance varies with changes in temperature. Although all resistor's resistance will fluctuate slightly with temperature. thermistor is particularly sensitive to temperature changes.
Thermistor act as a passive components in a electrical circuit. They are an accurate, cheap and robust way to measure the temperature. While the temperature is not work well in extremely hot or cold temperatures, they are sensor of choice of many different application.
