Challenge

Week -2

Objective
1. Make a Simulink model of Doorbell using solenoid block
Create a situation where the switch is closed for 2 seconds and then released.

2. Use a thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn on or turn off the fan
Fan conditions: ON if the temperature above 25 °C, OFF otherwise

solution
1. Make a Simulink model of Doorbell using solenoid block
Create a situation where the switch is closed for 2 seconds and then released.

explaination
first i have inserted the blocks i need.
we have given the input value in pulse generator and connected it to scope1 and also connected to switch by converting the signal through simulink PS converter

now,we used the battery to power the solenoid ,i have connected the solenid -ve to battery +ve terminal and battery -ve to switch and connected the Solver Configuration to switch

the Solver Configuration block specifies the solver parameters that your model needs before you can begin simulation

connected the solenoid +ve to switch

now, introduced the ideal translation Motion Sensor because This block measures velocity or displacement in a mechanical translational network. The sensor is ideal since it does not account for inertia, friction, delays, energy consumption, and so on.

conected the C and R of solenoid to ideal translation Motion Sensor C and R respectively.

now connected the P of ideal translation Motion Sensor to scope to get the output by converting through ps simuink convertor.

blocks explained

pulse generator-The Pulse Generator block generates square wave pulses at regular intervals. The block waveform parameters, Amplitude, Pulse Width, Period, and Phase delay, determine the shape of the output waveform. The following diagram shows how each parameter affects the waveform.

scope-The Simulink® Scope block and DSP System Toolbox™ Time Scope block display time domain signal

Simulink-PS Converter-The Simulink-PS Converter block converts the input Simulink® signal into a physical signal. Use this block to connect Simulink sources or other Simulink blocks to the inputs of a Physical Network diagram.

Battery-The Battery block implements a generic dynamic model that represents most popular types of rechargeable batteries.

Solenoid-The Solenoid block represents the electrical characteristics and generated force for the solenoid in the following figure:

Solver Configuration-Each physical network represented by a connected Simscape™ block diagram requires solver settings information for simulation. The Solver Configuration block specifies the solver parameters that your model needs before you can begin simulation.

Switch-The Switch block models a switch controlled by an external physical signal. If the external physical signal PS is greater than the value specified in the Threshold parameter, then the switch is closed, otherwise the switch is open.

Ideal Translational Motion Sensor-The Ideal Translational Motion Sensor block represents a device that converts an across variable measured between two mechanical translational nodes into a control signal proportional to velocity or position. You can specify the initial position (offset) as a block parameter.

Mechanical Translational ReferenceThe Mechanical Translational Reference block represents a reference point, or frame, for all mechanical translational ports. All translational ports that are rigidly clamped to the frame (ground) must be connected to a Mechanical Translational Reference block.

Electrical Reference-The Electrical Reference block represents an electrical ground. Electrical conserving ports of all the blocks that are directly connected to ground must be connected to an Electrical Reference block. A model with electrical elements must contain at least one Electrical Reference block.

output explaination

given the input as 2 sec through pulse generator to open and close the switch.when the switch is closed the solenoid recieves electricity from battery and plunger moves from port R to C to hit the bell.

Ideal Translational Motion Sensor detects movement of plunger.

2. Use a thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn on or turn off the fan
Fan conditions: ON if the temperature above 25 °C, OFF otherwise

explaination

first i have inserted the blocks i need.

first in signal builder to input the signals i have double click on it and set the time in axes to 50 drag the signals to 293,300,296 to get the pulse signal.

now i have connected the signal builder to Controlled Temperature Source by converting through ps simulink convertor to S .

connected the A of Controlled Temperature Source to thermal reference and S to thermistor A. the Solver Configuration block specifies the solver parameters that your model needs before you can begin simulation

now connected the thermistor +ve to voltalge source +ve terminal and connected-ve terminal of voltalge source to resistor -ve.

now connected the thermistor -ve to resistor +ve terminal

now connected Voltage Sensor +ve to thermistor -ve and connected-ve of Voltage Sensor to resistor -ve.
now connected the V of Voltage Sensor to switch by converting through ps simuink convertor

took two Constant 0 and 1 and connected them to switch .

connected the switch to scope to get the output.

blocks explained

Signal Builder-signalbuilder(block,'showsignal',signal,group) makes signals that are hidden from the Signal Builder block visible. By default, signals in the current active group are visible when created.

Controlled Temperature Source-The Controlled Temperature Source block represents an ideal source of thermal energy that is powerful enough to maintain specified temperature difference across the source regardless of the heat flow consumed by the system.

Solver Configuration-Each physical network represented by a connected Simscape™ block diagram requires solver settings information for simulation. The Solver Configuration block specifies the solver parameters that your model needs before you can begin simulation.

Electrical Reference-The Electrical Reference block represents an electrical ground. Electrical conserving ports of all the blocks that are directly connected to ground must be connected to an Electrical Reference block. A model with electrical elements must contain at least one Electrical Reference block.

Voltage Source-The Voltage Source block implements a voltage source with DC, AC, and noise components.

Thermistor-The Thermistor block represents an NTC thermistor using the B-parameter equation

Simulink-PS Converter-The Simulink-PS Converter block converts the input Simulink® signal into a physical signal. Use this block to connect Simulink sources or other Simulink blocks to the inputs of a Physical Network diagram.

Voltage Sensor-The Voltage Sensor block represents an ideal voltage sensor, that is, a device that converts voltage measured between two points of an electrical circuit into a physical signal proportional to the voltage.

Resistor-Use the resistor class to create a resistor object that you can add to an existing circuit.

Constant-The Constant block generates a real or complex constant value signal.

Switch-The Switch block passes through the first input or the third input signal based on the value of the second input. The first and third inputs are data input. The second input is a control input. Specify the condition under which the block passes the first input by using the Criteria for passing first input and Threshold parameters.

Scope-Display signals generated during simulation
