AIM

Making a simulink model of doorbell using solenoid block.

Working Principle

The most important part of a door bell is its magnetic motor. The magnetic motor constitutes a conventional electromagnet. We know that an electromagnet is an arrangement in which a coil of wire is wrapped around magnetic material which produces magnetic field when electricity is passed through the coil. The greater the coiling of the wire, the higher the amplification of magnetic field. This magnetic field produces a substantial effect on any magnetic substance when brought in the vicinity of its magnetic field. This means that when an iron object is placed in this magnetic field, it will be attracted towards the magnetic field due to polar orientation generated by the electromagnetism.

Process

When the door bell button is pressed, an electrical circuit is closed, which leads to the flowing of electric current through the electromagneThis current passes through a transformer which turns the 120 V current into usable 10 V current. The current then passes through the electromagnetic wire winding. A magnetic field is generated as a result, which is used to drive a sound making mechanism. Different types of sound making mechanisms are used to generate different sorts of noises.

                                                   BLOCK USED

  • PS-Simulink converter: Converts Simulink signals to the respective physical signal.
  • Battery: Battery is a storage device that provides the required voltage based on the parameter given. We can use DC voltage source blocks too.
  • Electrical Reference: These domain-specific electrical reference blocks will provide the required initial conditions to the connected .
  • PS-Simulink Converter:  Converts physical signals to the respective Simulink signal.
  • Solver Configuration: The Solver Configuration block specifies the solver parameters that your model needs before you can begin simulation and this is mandatory for all simscape designs.
  • Scope: This is an output block that shows the signal with respective time in an X-axis.
  • solenoid:The solenoid block acts as a electro mechanical device in which the electrical signals converyed into mechanical signal.
  • Mechanical Reference: All ports must be clamped to frame or we can say ground connect to mechanical translational reference block.
  • Translational Motion Sensor: These types of sensor block converts variable measured between two mechanical translational lodes into a control signal proportional to velocity.

                                                              THERMISTOR

AIM: Use a thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn on or turn off the fan as per the below conditions.

Temperature source: 20 °C from 0 to 10 seconds, 27 °C from 10 to 30 seconds, 23 °C from 30 to 50 seconds Fan conditions: ON if the temperature above 25 °C, OFF otherwis

A thermistor is a resistance thermometer, or a resistor whose resistance is dependent on temperature. The term is a combination of “thermal” and “resistor”. It is made of metallic oxides, pressed into a bead, disk, or cylindrical shape and then encapsulated with an impermeable material such as epoxy or glass.NTC thermistor whose resistance is depend on temperature . as temperature rises resistance decreases as it also effect voltage and current too.

  • Solver Configuration: The Solver Configuration block specifies the solver parameters that your model needs before you can begin simulation and this is mandatory for all simscape designs.
  • PS-Simulink Converter:  Converts physical signals to the respective Simulink signal.
  • Constant: Provides a constant output value
  • Switch: This block is used from the library Simulink .
  • Scope: This is an output block that shows the signal with respective time in an X-axis.
  • Thermistor: Thermistor block which shows us the NTC thermistor relation between temperature and resistance.
  • Battery: Battery is a storage device that provides the required voltage based on the parameter given. We can use DC voltage source blocks too.
  • Resistor: Resistor which provides the opposing nature of current in a circuit.
  • Voltage sensor: This is used to measure the voltage or potential difference across any electrical component and it should connect in parallel only.
  • Electrical Reference: These domain-specific electrical reference blocks will provide the required initial conditions to the connected thermal block for the solver.
  • Signal Builder - to generate the signal according to the input condition given.
  • PS-Simulink converter: Converts Simulink signals to the respective physical signal.
  • Controlled temperature source: (CTS) Provide a temperature physical output based on the condition given to port S.
  • Thermal reference: Thermal reference block provides the required initial conditions to the connected thermal block for the solver.

CONCLUSION

We get amplitude zero when temperature below 298.15 and one amplitude above 298.15k in the output graph and hence condition satisfied.
