Challenge

Week -2

AIM - 1. To make a Simulink model of a Doorbell using Solenoid block.

THEORY -

An electric bell is a device which functions by the means of electromagnets. When electric current is applied, it produces a repetative buzzing or clanging of the gong.

Electric bells have been in industry since when the Industrial Revolution started like in the mid 1800s but now it has been replaced with the new ones i.e., electonic sounders.

An electric bell consists of eleromagnets made coil insulated by wire on an iron piece which attracts the iron strap armature with a clapper.

BLOCKS USED -

  1. Pulse Generator - generates square wave pulses at regular intervals.
  2. Switch - The Switch block models a switch controlled by an external physical signal.
  3. Battery - The Battery block represents a simple battery model.
  4. Solenoid - This block implements the electrical and mechanical characteristics of a solenoid.
  5. Ideal Traslational Motion Sensor - This block measures velocity or displacement in a mechanical translational network.
  6. Scope - Displays signals generated during simulation.
  7. Solver Cofiguration - Each physical network represented by a connected Simscape block diagram requires solver settings information for simulation. The Solver Configuration block specifies the solver parameters that your model needs before you can begin simulation.

CIRCUIT DIAGRAM -

PLOT -

2. Using a thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn on or turn off the fan as per the below conditions:

  •  Temperature source: 20 °C from 0 to 10 seconds, 27 °C from 10 to 30 seconds, 23 °C from 30 to 50 seconds
  • Fan conditions: ON if the temperature above 25 °C, OFF otherwise
