Week 14 challenge
ASSEMBLY OF BUTTERFLY VALVE:
OBJECTIVE:
To create a butterfly valve assembly and create a GD&T Representation of that assembly for manufacturing.
Creation of Butterfly valve Assembly:
- In previous challenges, we are creating the individual part of the butterfly valve assembly.
- First, in this challenge, we need to create the file and select the assembly workbench.
- Then we need to insert the parts in the assembly workbench and create assembly constraints between the parts.
- First, we need to fix the main body of the butterfly valve.
- And then sub-assemble the shaft and disc plate with concentricity and touch-face relation.
- Then take that subassembly into the main body of the assembly, then insert that shaft into the shaft insert area of the main body of a butterfly valve.
- Then align and position that shaft concerning the outer face of the disc plate and the inner radius of the main body of the butterfly valve with touch assembly relation.
- Then we need to position and align the lever concerning the slot cut.
- And finally assemble the nut with concentric relation to the shaft.

Creation of 2D AND GD&T Representation:
- First, we need to create A1, A2, and A3 Datum targets with 0.25mm flatness.
- Then mention the Datum A by which we are constraint 2 DOF.
- Then we create B Datum as a 47mm diameter hole with perpendicularity tolerance of 0.25mm concerning A datum.
- Then create B, C, And D Datum as below shown diagram.
- create profile tolerance of 0.5mm to the opposite of datum A surface concerning A, B, AND C.
- Then create position tolerance to the opposite side of A datum holes concerning A, B, C, and D Datum.
