Week 12 - Project-1
OBJECTIVE:
The objective of this challenge is to mesh the give plastic component (side door) and follow the given quality criteria and mesh flow.
Target Element Length = 4mm
| S.N. | Quality Criteria | Value |
| 1 | Aspect Ratio | 5 |
| 2 | Skewness | 45 |
| 3 | Warping | 15 |
| 4 | Taper | 0.5 |
| 5 | Min. Length | 2mm |
| 6 | Max. Length | 6mm |
| 7 | Min angle Quad | 45 |
| 8 | Max angle Quad | 135 |
| 9 | Min angle Tria | 20 |
| 10 | Max angle Tria | 120 |
| 11 | Tria % | 10 |

PROCEDURE:
Step-1: Importing the Geomentry
File->Import->Geomentry.

Step-2: Save the File.
File->SaveAs->Model.

Step-3: set up file criteria.
Preferences->File criteria Settings.
set the target element size to 5mm, minimum as 0.5mm, maximum as 10mm.

Step-4: Geomentry cleanup.
i. checking wheather the given geomentry is solid or not, if yes then deleting the solid part.
ii. Defeaturing the surface fillets with less than 5mm.
iii. toggling the unwanted lines.
Step-5: Creating midsurface & Cleanup.
i. As this is a pastic geomentry AutoMidsurface won't be desirable so taking the midsurface manually.
ii. splitting the midsurface with the help of feature edit tool to get a good mesh flow.
iii. For geomentry with more than Aprox. 6mm thickness the Midsurface is not created.
Step-6: Creating 2D Mesh.
2D->Automesh->Surf->Selected surf.
set the element size as 4 and element type as Mixed.

Step-7: Creating Property.
Creating property and assigning the desire thickness based on the parent geomentry.
Step-8: Creating Material.
Creating the Material and assigning it to the mesh.
Step-9: Quality checks.
the following Quality checks and Quality criteria are checked
- Warpage
- Aspects
- Skewness
- Min. & Max. Length
- Taper
- Min. & Max. Tria Angle
- Min. & Max. Quard Angle
- Edges
- Normal
- Dependency
- Quality Index
Step-10: Save.
Result:
By following the given quality criteria the given plastic geomentry (side door) is meshed and the mesh flow is maintained as much as possible.
