OBJECTIVE: To create a BOM and Hardware list (BOP) for the complete Fixture assembly from challenge 8.

THEORY: 

Bill Of Materials: A bill of materials is a comprehensive inventory of raw materials,assemblies,subassemblies,parts and components as well as quantities of each,needed to manufacture a product. In a nutshell,it is the complete list of all items that are required to built a product. A BOM is sometimes also referrred to as product structure,assembly component list or production recipe.

A well-defined BOM helps companies:

  • Plan purchases of raw materials
  • Estimate material costs
  • Gain inventory control
  • Track and plan material requirements
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Ensure supply robustness and reduce waste

Bill Of Parts: A bill of parts is a list which contains all the required hardware and parts which are to be bought from a supplier.
