Week 11 - Project - A pillar Design with Master Section
TOOLING AXIS CREATION:
First of all to check the boundary connectivity of the given Class - A surface. To ensure this select join definition tool, it creates a boundary around the edges of the class-A - A surface. To double ensure that, select the boundary definition tool, which also creates the boundary around the edges of the class-A - A surface. Disassemble the boundary and check if there is any gap between the boundary.
To create the tooling axis, create a geometrical set and name it as Tooling axis. Create point on the Master section and the isolate it and create another point in the same Master section curve. By using the line definition method, create a point to point line using the two created points. Use same procedure on the another side to create parallel line. Using the two lines, create a Bisecting line. Attached screen shot below.
Then finally we need to create the tooling axis. Select the line definition tool with a bisecting line type. Select the two bisecting lines created in the above steps the select the point. It creates a line between these lines. then name it as Tooling axis. Attached image below.
Then publish the Tooling axis and class-A surface.
DRAFT ANALYSIS ON CLASS - A SURFACE:
Before creating a draft analysis, ensure the component or surface is in customize view parameters with material shading. Select the Draft analysis tool, and select the component. Drag the compass in the tooling axis. Lock the direction. Then select Ok. Ensure all the faces along the tooling axis are in green color. Attached screenshot below.
CLASS B SURFACE CREATION:
By using the offset feature, offset the class A surface for 2.5mm. Fill the patches using surface features. Ensure the Class B surface is at least 3 to 5 mm extended out from the Class A surface. Then finally publish the Class B surface. Attached image below.
CLASS C SURFACE CREATION:
It is the surface which connects the class A & B. It is created by using Sweep feature based on the connecting area of the class A & B. For the face parallel to the tooling direction, create the sweep with draft direction along the draft angle. For the face perpendicular to the tooling direction, create using reference surface along with 90 deg angle. Connect the surfaces and publish it by naming them as Class C surface.
CLOSED SURFACE CREATION:
Finally all the class A, B & C surfaces need to join.By using trim surface feature, trim the surfaces. then insert a body define it and using closed surface definition feature , create a solid body.

CREATION OF ENGINEERING FEATURE ATTACHMENT:
Analyze the given master section which type of attachment feature is given. Create a dog house using the design guide and master section references.
Then finally Union trim with the main A piller model.
