Week 11 - Final project

FINAL PROJECT -DOOR TRIM PANEL

CLASS A SURFACE

It is the surface which is given to the plastic designer as input.it is the outer most and aesthetic surface.

CLASS B SURFACE

A surface that is at a distance of thickness from class A surface is class B surface.all engineering features are contained in B surface.

CLASS C SURFACE

A surface that joints class A and class B is called C surface.

TOOLING AXIS

  • The tooling direction is used to find the direction in which the part is ejected out of the mold.
  • First look at the part in all views and check which is the most appropriate direction for the tool axis.
  • For this part we can see that Z direction is clearing the part so we can choose tooling axis in the z direction.

DRAFT ANALYSIS

  • Draft analysis is done to check whether the part designed is manufacturable or not.
  • Minimum draft angle considered is 3*.
  • For analysis goto insert>analysis>feature draft analysis.
  • Then place the compass on the tooling axis and click on the part.

TOOLING AXIS

  • The tooling direction is used to find the direction in which the part is ejected out of the mold.
  • First look at the part in all views and check which is the most appropriate direction for the tool axis.
  • for this part we can see that in Y direction all the parts are clear so we can choose Y as tooling axis.

SIDE CORE TOOLING AXIS

  • Since lower trim contains dog house,we need additional side tooling axis for side core.

TOOLING AXIS

  • The tooling direction is used to find the direction in which the part is ejected out of the mold.
  • First look at the part in all views and check which is the most appropriate direction for the tool axis.
  • For this part we can see that in Y direction we all the surfaces of the part.so we can Y as tooling axis and perform draft analysys.

TOOLING AXIS

  • The tooling direction is used to find the direction in which the part is ejected out of the mold.
  • First look at the part in all views and check which is the most appropriate direction for the tool axis.
  • First we make a line along Y direction because in y direction we can see all the part.
  • Then we make a intersection between YZ plane and surface to get the problem making surface.then we make a line that is more than 3 degree from the problem making surface by constraining it.

  • Then we take the next problem taking surface by intersecting XY plane and the surface.then we draw a line which is more than 3 degree from the problem making surface.

  • Then bisecting these lines we get the tooling axis.
