Week 11 - Final project

DEVELOPMENT OF DOOR TRIM

AIM:

To Creation of CAD model considering Class A surface, Nominal thickness, and Attachment strategy.

OBJECTIVE:

  • To Creation of CAD model USING Class A surface, Nominal thickness, and Attachment strategy.
  • Create thickened part using the master section for reference
  • Create the mounting features as per design guidelines USING MASTER SECTIONS

Tooling axis for all body concepts:

  • THE FIRST STEP IS TO CREATE A TOOLING AXIS BY USING BISECTING METHOD.
  • For circular object center point is the tooling axis
  • For the plain surface center point is the tooling axis.

Steps in part body creation:

  1. First, we check the class A surface. if there are any surface patches that will be rectified using some blend, multi-section, etc.
  2. Next creation of offset the class a with the given thickness.
  3. While offsetting the class A surface some patches are created and the patches have rectified the use of blend and multi-section solid command.
  4. Then create the C surface using sweep, blend, and join.
  5. Then C surface joins with the class A surface and trim with the B surface.
  6. I am using part design to close body commands to create a solid body.
  7. Next using Draft analysis for all the solid bodies.
  8. Draft angle +or- 3°
  9. create the dog house with the design guidelines with 0.5°draft and heat stakes creation for attachment strategy.

DOG HOUSE and heat stakes creation

For heat stakes, D7 and D5 the dia draft angle is 0.5°.

Creation dog house

  • Wall thickness = 0.70 x Thickness of the plastic material
  • Fillet on the inner side = 0.25 x Thickness of the plastic material
  • Fillet on the outer side = 1.25 x Thickness of the plastic material
  • Fillet on the coring edges = 0.25 x Thickness of the plastic material
  • Coring thickness = 0.40 x Thickness of the plastic material
  • Draft angle 2deg to 3deg

FINAL OUTPUT OF ALL THE ABOVE PARTS

ASSEMBLY DESIGN

The assembly design coincides command and connects all the heat stakes axis with the hole axis to coincide easily.

DRAFT ANALYSIS

the minimum draft degree is 3°
