Week 11 - Final project
AIM: The project aims to create a solid model with attachment features using the given CLASS A Surface.
GIVEN: Class A Surface of the Door Trim.
PROCEDURE: The Initial process is to separate the Door Trim into parts as follows,
- LOWER SUBSTRATE
- DOOR ARMREST
- ARMREST UPHOLSTERY
- MAP POCKET
- BOTTLE HOLDER
The easiest way to separate the door trim into different parts is by finding the boundaries and hiding the surfaces within the boundary and selecting the surfaces hidden and moving them to a new Geometrical Set.
In the Geometrical Set finally, the surfaces are joined by selecting all the surfaces.
The same process is done until all the parts are separated from the Door Trim.
The Important part of designing is that the Geometrical Sets are to be made separately So that referring to it or editing it would be easy.
LOWER SUBSTRATE:
- CLASS A Surface of the Lower Substrate is checked visually and also using the boundary option whether the surface is good or not.

- After verifying the surface quality Tooling Axis is created.

- After creating the Tooling Axis Draft Analysis is made and if the draft isn't cleared, the direction of the Tooling Axis is changed accordingly to clear the draft.

- Now the Class C surface is swept by extracting the boundary of the Class A Surface in the direction of the Tooling Axis.
- The sweep should be made in the direction of the tooling axis at a draft angle of 3 degrees outward.
- All the sweeps made are joined together.
- Class A is offset inward for the thickness value. We can take the offset surface as Class B Surface.
- Both the Class A surface and the Class C Surfaces are joined.
- Now The joined surfaces of Class A and Class C is trimmed with Class B Surface.
- This is our Surface body of the product.

- Now using the command CLOSE SURFACE, the Surface body is filled with solid.
- In the obtained solid body attachment features are made having the reference direction as the Toolin axis of the main component and they are drafted with an angle of 0.5 degrees.
- The guidelines are followed while creating all the attachment features.

- Using the Boolean Operation, the attachment features are joined with the main bod

- Finally, Draft analysis is made on the component, to check whether the draft is proper throughout the part.

Same as the lower substrate other four parts of the Door trim was also designed.
