Week 11 Challenge

AIM – The aim of our is that, to Calculate the temperature load for the RC bridges with M40 grade to be constructed in Delhi and Create the model in Staad Pro and analysis the Structure.

INTRODUCTION – The Detail of Project for the bridge Given below

The Span of the Bridge is 9m

The Box girder dimension is 1500 *1500 with a web thickness of 300mm

The diameter of the circular pier is 2.5m

The width Of deck slab is 7m and width of piercap is 6m

The Thickness of deck Slab is 550mm

PROCEDUCE IN DETAIL:-

STEP1:- First create the node and select the add beam Command and create the beam.

STEP2:- Then, Select the beam then go to the translation repeat Command and create the beam .

Step3:- After Create the model then go the support command create the fixed supports and assign the supports.

Step4:- After Create the support then go to the properties command and select geometry and assign the properties.

Step5:- Then Calculate the temperature load as per IS 875 Part V code

Maximum Temperature in the location as per IRC 6 Isotherm at the location =47.5 degrees

Minimum Temperature in the location as per IRC 6 Isotherm at the location =-2.5 degrees

Effective temperature difference ={47.5-(-2.5)}/2 + 10

where 10 is critical load combination give by IRC

= 35degrees

Stress Due to temperature = αTE

Where α is the coefficient of thermal expansion

T is effective temperature difference

E Is Modulus of elasticity of material

The coefficient of thermal expansion of Reinforced concrete is taken as 11.7 *10^-6 degree per centigrade

Modulus of elasticity of Reinforced concrete is 5000(fck)^(1/2)

Stress Due to temperature =11.7*10^-6*35*5000(40)^0.5

=12.949527 kN/m2

Max permissible stress =2/3 0.7 *fck^(1/2)

=2.95 kN/m2

Hence , the Stress are restricted to 3kN/m2

Maximum Temperature = 47.5 degrees

Minimum Temperature =-2.5 degrees

Positive temperature difference

Temperature at top = 47.5 degrees

Temperature at Bottom = (2.1/17.8)*47.5

=5.6 degrees

Step6:- After go to the Load definitions and defined the Temperature Load.

Step7:-Create the load and assign the load into model

Step8:- Then slave the file and assign run analysis.

Step9:- Then Check the Deflection, displacement and all deformation on the structural element .

RESULT:- Stress Due to temperature is 12.949527 kN/m2 into the bridge and Max permissible stress is 2.95 kN/m2 into the

bridge.

Temperature at top of the bridge is 47.5 degrees and Temperature at Bottom of the bridge is 5.6 degrees.
