Week 11 Car Crash simulation
OBJECTIVE:
To perform a car crash simulation and perform a parametric study using three different thickness for the car body and analyse the results.
METHODOLOGY:
- First import the geometry and assaign the materials to the wall and the car body.
- give the thickness to the car body.
- apply symmetry to the wall and the car body by selecting the proper edges.

- apply mesh to the geometry and perform face sizing operations wherever needed.

- give the fixed support on the faces of the car body and give the displacement to the wall.

- run the simulation and find the results for various thickness.

CASE 1:THICKNESS=0.3

CASE 2 : THICKNESS=0.5

CASE 3:THICKNESS=0.65

| thickness(mm) | total deformation(mm) | equivalent stress(Mpa) |
| 0.3 | 886.79 | 19002 |
| 0.5 | 876.32 | 12480 |
| 0.65 | 885.3 | 10206 |
CONCLUSION:
from the above data we conclude that as the thickness of the geometry increases results in increase in mass hence stress developed in the component decreases .
