Week 10 Challenge
AIM:
Calculate the snow load accumulated in the bridge and analysis in STAAD pro softwer.
GIVEN:
- Span of the bridge is 10m .The snow is settled snow.
- The deck of bridge is flat with B <30 degree.
- The depth of accumulation of snow is 1250 mm.
PROCEDURE:
1.First creat a node

2.Selected the node use translation reputing command X direction one step 10m spacing

3.To select the beam use traslation reputing command Z direction one step 3m spacing link steps

4.Next select the beam 3 steps 12m spacing use reputing command

5.select the last beam reputing command 3m spacing

6.Select the four node show in screen short reputin command Y direction -8m spacing and link steps

7.And then creat the plate in 0.5m spacing, select the plate reputin in X direction 19 steps

8.Select the plats and then reputing command in Z direction 35steps in 0.5m spacing

9.Creat a plats in Y direction 1.5m spacing

10.Select the plats Use reputing command in Z direction 18m spacing

11.It is the fixed support

12.Piers size is 1m

13.Beams size is 0.75m x 1m and plats thick is 0.3m

CALCULATION:
Density of wet snow = 8kN/m3
Depth of snow = 1250 mm
Span = 10m
Flat deck, angle = 0 degree
Snow load So = 8 X 1.250 X 10
= 100 kN/m
Shape coefficient from IS 875 part 4
Design snow load = 0.8 X 100
= 80 kN/m
The minimum snow load as per IRS is 9 kN/m
14.Next Load cases details > add > Snow load > Minimum snow load as per IRC

15.Snow load to be asign beams

16.Minimum snow load to be asign plats

RESULTS:
17.Go to analysis and run analysis > post processing mode

18.FY > annotated > shear > end

19. MZ > annotated > bending > moment

20.Plats stresses MY local

21.Plats stresses SY local

22. Beam results
