Challenge

Week 10 - Challenge 3 - Door Trim Lower with Engineering Features

REPORT

  • The tooling axis is created by the most accurate method which is known as bisecting method.By extracting the edges of the sloped surface and creating the lines upon them and bisecting the lines with a centre point will give us a bisecting line, which is our required tooling axis.
  • After creating the tooling axis, checked the draft analysis of the given surface A .The result is satisfying

  • After that, the surface B is created by offseting method(2.5mm) and extrapolated the surface B little bit for the final trim purpose.
  • After that, surface C is created by the sweep method which includes both the reference surface method and draft direction method.
  • After creating the C surface ,joined it with the given A surface and maked A+C join
  • After creating the A+C join, trimmed the A+C surface with the extrapolated B Surface.we get a final trim
  • The final trim is closed by the closed surface method in the part workbench. As a result we get our required part body.
  • Next step is creating the heat steaks and locators on the part body with the help of positioned sketch, pad etc.
  • The draft angles and edgefillets are done on the heat steak and locators
  • joined the heat steak and locators with the part body by the boolean operation called union trim
  • The draft analysis was performed on the output body and observed that most of the areas are clearing the required draft angle with the tooling axis.some of the areas contain draft angle less than 3 degree(around 2.89 degrees)that is mentioned below
