Week 10 - Challenge 2- Attachment Feature Creation (Dog House)
Door Trim - Dog House Design
1. Dog House - Introduction
Dog houses are true to their name similar in structure to actual dog houses. However, the dog houses are created with a thinner tip attached to the main component. The main purpose of which is to protect the visible surfaces from defects such as sinks and other distorsions. The additional Srew Bosses are created over the dog house in which they fulfill their purpose and protect the structural and asthetic integrity of the part. The Dog houses are created from sketches and then extruded to form surfaces. From which they are thickened to form the solid parts. Draft, Edge Fillet commonds are used to complete it. Drafts are given in the direction of the side core bosses.
2. Tooling Axis
The tooling axis is created by bisecting the part in two nd finding the nominal centre point. This point is projected by a line normal to the surface. A plane is created at that point tangent to the surface. The Whole process in shown below.

3. Draft Analysis
The Draft Analysis revealed that most of the inclined surfaces have an angle greater than 3deg(Green). The random patches of red (<0.5deg), blue and yellow (<3deg) areas have been ignored because they are normal surfaces. There is likely an error due to offset surfaces. The draft anslysis is shown below. More importantly the dog houses have a clearly inclined surface inside and out. They are still verified by creating a side core axis.
