Challenge

Week 10 - Challenge 1- Attachment Feature Creation (Ribs & Screw Boss)

Tooling axis creation-

  • Creation of an intersection for checking along the x-axis
  • Creation of tooling axis along the X axis - Using the intersection, two lines are created along the inclined wall. these lines are used for the creation of the tooling axis by Bisecting method where the two lines and point are selected as inputs.
  • Creation of an intersection for checking along Y axis
  • Creation of tooling axis along Y axis - Using the intersection lines are created along the inclined walls and as there is only one wall, another line is created at a certain angle (3 to 5 degrees) to the wall. these lines are used for the creation of the tooling axis by Bisecting method where the two lines and point are selected as inputs.

Tooling axis creation - The tooling axis created along X and Y axis is used for the creation of the Tooling axis by Bisecting method where the two lines and points are selected as inputs.

Draft Analysis of Class A Surface -

  • Draft analysis is done after determining the tooling axis. It is used to check whether the minimum draft of 3 degrees is maintained or not.
  • INSERT > ANALYSIS> FEATURE DRAFT ANALYSIS
  • View mode is changed to custom view parameters- Material mode. then the Feature draft analysis is enabled.
  • A compass is used to define the draft direction and it is locked on the tooling axis.
  • By dragging the red pointer, Analysis under the running points in Display is selected.

Draft Analysis of plastic component -

  • The green colour area shows that it satisfies the 2.9degree draft angle (The blue colour area shows 0 to 2.9 degrees and the red colour area shows a negative draft angle). If not satisfied then by using the running point tool, the area is measured and then altered to get an appropriate draft for the created tooling direction.
