Week 10- Assembly Workbench

Title - Modeling, Assembly and drafting of Quick return mechanism and CV joint in Catia V5.

Introduction - In this report we will be seeing the 3D modelling of individual parts of two assemblies cv joint and quick return mechanism. After modeling we will be doing the assembly of of these parts and drafting them.

Approach - The 2D drawings are given, we studied the drawings and made the 3D modeling in the part workbench, then we assembled the parts using assembly workbench later did the drafting in drafting workbench.

Process - First we made the 2D sketches for modeling the solid geometry of the individual parts using commands like line, point, rectangle, circle then used features like pad and shaft for 3d modeling in the part workbench. Later with the help of assembly workbench we added all the parts in the workbench and gave them constraints to assemble the parts in thier respective places. The commands used in the assembly workbenches were offset constraint, coincidence constraint and contact constraint. Once the assembly was done we went in the drafting workbench and made the 2d drawings also with isometric views.
