Week 1 Stress Concentration on a Plate with hole
1)
| Deformation (mm) | Stress (Mpa) | |
| Case 1 | 0.00027492 | 0.605 |
| Case 2 | 0.00029731 | 0.581 |
2) From analysis stand point i would like to pick case 2 model becase as per FEM results the stress value in case 2 model is less than the case 1 model. Second reason for opting case 2 model with respect to weight since i have multiple cutouts in case 2 model there is a weight reduction.
3) From manufacturing stand point i will select case 1 model because in case 2 model i am having multiple holes to drill its a bit time taking to create holes at diffrent location.
4) I have performed a static analysis with 2 cases one is a rectangular plate with a hole at centre and second one is a rectangular plate with multiple holes.
The geometric details of the case 1 as Length=300 mm
Width = 120 mm
Thickness = 30 mm
Hole Dia = 60 mm
The geometric details of the case 2 as Length=300 mm
Width = 120 mm
Thickness = 30 mm
Centre Hole Dia = 60 mm
Small Hole Dia = 30 mm
Distance between centre hole to small holes = 90 mm
Structure steel material has been used for both the cases
The results of static analysis are tabulated below.
| Deformation (mm) | Stress (Mpa) | |
| Case 1 | 0.00027492 | 0.605 |
| Case 2 | 0.00029731 | 0.581 |
Conclusion: The result values of both cases are well with in the allowables. Case 2 model would be considerd because of Component weight and stress values are less compared with case 1 model.
