Week 1 Stress Concentration on a Plate with hole
Aim- To design a plate with a hole model and t0 Determine the maximum deformation and stress developed in the model.
Objective-
To design plate with a hole and plate with three holes and to compare the equivalent stress and deformation and analysing the plate which is sutiable for manifacturing.
Producer-
1. First we select the structural analysis fom ansys GUI .
2. We add material to the plate by selecting the stainless stell from the engineering sources.
3. We Edit geometry in the edit spaceclaim we will first create the rectangle of the dimension (300*120mm) and we will create the circle at the center of the rectangle of the diameter 60mm. and we give the thickness of 30mm by selecting the pull option.

Fig2- Giving thickness to the model.
4.After editing the geometry we will upgate the model and we rename the model as plate with hole under geometry, and we mesh the model of the elemnt size 4mm and we use the Tetrahydron as the element type, and we apply the fixed support to the one of the face of the rectangle(Structural Anlysis>insert>fixed support>select the one face as the geometry and apply) and we apply the force of the magnitude 500N in the x direction. and we solve the problem and we get results for equivalent stress and the total deformation.

| cases | Eqivalent stress(min and maximum)Mpa | Total Deformation | |
| 1.plate with hole | 0.60346max and min 0.010159 | 0.00027485max and min 0 | |
| 2.plate with three holes | 0.58185 max and min 0.002949 | 0.00029712 and min 0 | |
Conclusion
From above table we can see that palte with center hole have more equivalent stress i.e 0.60346 than equivalent stress for plate with three holes i.e 0.58185 hence plate with hole yields more and gets fracture easily but in plate with the three holes due to distribution of the stresses around the three holes the equivalent stress is less and fatigue life of the plate is more than the plate with a single hole hence from analysis view thw plate with three holes is prefferd .
From manifacture point view the palte with single hole is prefferd becuse the material coast will be the less and time saving for manifacture will be less than the palte with three holes
