Week 1 Spur Gear Challenge

Aim;

To simulate a spur gear with gievn load and moment on varies cases of material condtions .

Software used ;

Ansys workbench student version 2021r2

Procedure .

Import the gemetry from the downloads .

Add enginnering data to the material as the case given we are starting with castiron .As given in the enginnering data we select it for the simulation.

Mesh the component and assign the material to both components .

Add contact to the spur gear select all the contact portions .

Apply boundry conditions to the model

Change the behaviour to frictional.

Give all the datas in the tabular data and define the angle of rotaion .

Finally check all the boundry condtion and set all outputs required for the results like total deformation and equvalent stress .

Then hit slove .

Follow the same step and change the material as given in the 3 cases and do the simulations then compare the results .

Result;

The case 3 is having less stress comparing other two cases .
