1 Introduction

LS-DYNA is an advanced general-purpose multiphysics simulation software package developed by the former Livermore Software Technology Corporation (LSTC), which was acquired by Ansys in 2019. While the package continues to contain more and more possibilities for the calculation of many complex real-world problems, its origins and core competency lie in highly nonlinear transient dynamic finite element analysis (FEA) using explicit time integration. LS-DYNA is used by the automobile, aerospace, construction and civil engineering, military, manufacturing, and bioengineering industries.

Different industries use a different systems of units as per their convenience. The units for the basic measurement quantities, mass distance, and time - dictate how the other derived quantities will be expressed. For example, automotive industries use kg, mm, ms as their standard unit system. Construction industries are likely to use tonne,m,s as their unit system. Similarly, PCB simulation in the electronic industry uses gm, micrometer, ms as their system of units. LS-DYNA does not have a default system of units. User needs to input material properties and physical dimensions according to a consistent system of units as per their choice. This warrants that to use LS-DYNA in different circumstances, users must be conversant with converting quantities from one system of units to another.

2 Aims

  1. Write the given measurements in a different system of units as per the requirement of the challenge.
  2. Mention the conversion factors used to convert the given measurements into asked appropriate units.

3 Conversion from SI unit to gm/mm/ms unit

4 Conclusion

The main aim of the Week 1 challenge was to convert the given measurements into a different system of units and mention the conversion factors used to convert the given measurements into asked appropriate units.
