Answer:
Three ways by which we can create a model in STAAD Pro as given below,
Analytical Model
Physical Model
Building Planner Model
5. Write the steps flooowed to assign properties in a model
Answer:
Go to the properties tab
Click on the matreial from the list
Then click the assignment method, and assign the material property to your model

2Q.
1. Name any six design parameters involved in RCC design.
Answer:
- Code of practice
- Concrete design
- Diameter of bars
- Fck - compressive strength of concrete
- Fy - Tensile strength of steel
- Clear cover
2. What are the different cursor types available in STAAD Pro?
Answer:
The different types of cursor available in STAAD Pro are listed below
- Node Cursor
- Beam Cursor
- Plate Cursor
- Solid Cursor
- Geometry Cursor
- Member Cursor
- Plates and solids cursor
- Load Cursor

3. How will yoy generate different views for a model? state the steps involved.
Answer:
Go to the view option in the ribbon tab, then we can see the below options,
- Isometric view
- Top view
- Bottom view
- Left view
- Front view
- Right view
- Back view

4. Explain the procedure to define a " simply supported" condition in STAAD Pro.
Answer:
Click on the support command in the tool palet command
Click on create support comand
We have types of supports like, fixed support, pinned support, fixed but support, cable support, inclined support, enforced, enforced but support.
Result:

5. Name any five topics that you will include while creating DBR
Answer:
DBR is the Design Basis Report. It is basically the short brief details of the project.
The five topic that include while creating DBR
- Name of the project and location of the project.
- Structural Layout
- Introduction to the construction methodology.
- Quality assurance and quality control
- Budget of the project
6. Describe the term "Multi-Material Design" of STAAD Pro.
Answer: ameThe multi-Material Design is used for 3D model generation and analysis.
The STAAD Pro supports several steel, timber, concrete material in a separate member
This separate member will cordinate and will formed into s atructure.
3Q.
1. Name the structure system in STAAD Pro? Explain each system
Answer:
The three structure system in STAAD Pro are as follow
- Plane Frames
- Space Frames
- Trusses
i. Plane Frames- Planes frames are RCC or steel frame structures. It is a two-dimentional structure which is constructed with straight elements which are connected by the rigid or the hinged connections.
ii. Space Frames- Space frames are the three-dimentional truss like structures that is designed to carry loads for the longer spans without any intermediate supports. The space frame structures are rigid and light weight in nature and it is structurally effective. It has lower transportation cost.
iii. Trusses- Trusses are created by arranging the structural elements in the triangle forms which can take loads in both compression and tension.
2. Explain the coordinate system adopted in STAAD Pro software
Answer:
The coordinate system adopted in STAAD Pro software are x, y and z coordinates.
There are two systems
i. Global Axis- It is a fixed coordinate system
ii. Loca;l Axis- It is variable
3. Elaborate DBR and its uses
Answer:
the DBR (Design Basis Report) is essentially a project management document that contains numerous information on the structure's construction. This DBR is a thorough report that goes into great depth about the current construction project. In outlining the Client's requirements for the construction work, it specifies the last step in the process. This report basically contains all of the significant structural information that is pertinent to, or we might say that is related to, the project, such as a client description, site information, special requirements, if any, technical requirements, components needed, project requirements, and other construction-related issues.
4. Explain the different types of analysis option in STAAD Pro
Answer:
The different types of analysis option in STAAD Pro software are listed below.
- Linear Elastic analysis
- P-Delta analysis
- Buckling analysis
- Pushover analysis
5. Explain the difference between Fixed and But condition.
Answer:
FIXED Condition: In the STAAD Pro program, a fixed condition is one in which all of the degrees of freedom—horizontal, vertical, or moment—are fixed, or, to put it another way, these conditions are constrained and cannot be changed. We can claim that those conditions are fixed conditions.
BUT Condition: As for the fixed-end condition, we can remark that its end conditions can be adjusted as needed. The final condition is not constrained in this situation, thus we can adjust it.Some of the necessary degree of freedom can be released.
PRACTICAL
1Q.
1. Create a STAAD Model with the following Specification
a. A beam of span 16m
b. Support : Fixed on one end and Roller support(Horizontal) on the other end
c. A point load of 50 kN at the mid-point
d. Draw SFD and BMD using software
Answer:
Aim: To create a STAAD Pro model of a beam of span 16m, which is fixed at one end and roller support on the other end. A point load of 50kN at the mid-point.
To draw the shear force and bending moment diagram using the software.
Procedure:
- Firstly open the STAAD Pro software, and create a new model.
- Go to the new option -> click on create
- Write up the project details and the location
- Add the notes (two points)
- Assign the beam of 16m span
- Click on the material Assign the material as CONCRETE as shown below
- Click on the loading Assign the point load of 50kN
- click on the supports add one point load at one end and roller support at the other end (say Assign using cursor)
STAAD Pro Result: The steps given below.
