Challenge

Usage of Navigation tool , Timeliner and Clash Detection test using Naviswork

### Task 1: Export Revit Models to Navisworks Cache File

**Aim**:

To export the architectural and structural models developed in Revit to Navisworks Cache files (.nwc) using the specified export settings.

**Tools**:

1. Autodesk Revit

2. Export settings as discussed in class

**Procedure**:

1. Open Autodesk Revit.

2. Load the architectural and structural models developed in Weeks 6 to 8.

3. Go to `File` > `Export` > `NWC`.

4. Configure the export settings as per the guidelines discussed in class (e.g., combining shared coordinates, level of detail).

5. Export both models individually to `.nwc` files and save them.

**Results**:

- Architectural model exported to `architecture.nwc`.

- Structural model exported to `structure.nwc`.

### Task 2: Walkthrough Animation Using Navigate Tool

**Aim**:

To navigate through the Revit model in Navisworks and record the walkthrough as an animation.

**Tools**:

1. Autodesk Navisworks

2. Navigate tool

**Procedure**:

1. Open Navisworks.

2. Load the `architecture.nwc` and `structure.nwc` files.

3. Use the `Navigate` tool and select `Walk`.

4. Move through the rooms in the model.

5. Go to `Viewpoint` > `Record` to start recording the walkthrough.

6. Save the recorded walkthrough animation.

**Results**:

- A recorded walkthrough animation saved in the Navisworks file.

### Task 3: Realism Feature Walkthrough

**Aim**:

To enhance the walkthrough of the Revit model using the realism feature in Navisworks and record it as an animation.

**Tools**:

1. Autodesk Navisworks

2. Navigate tool with Realism settings

**Procedure**:

1. Open Navisworks.

2. Load the `architecture.nwc` and `structure.nwc` files.

3. Go to `Viewpoint` > `Realism` > `Scene Settings`.

4. Adjust realism settings such as gravity and collision.

5. Use the `Navigate` tool to walk through the model with realism enabled.

6. Go to `Viewpoint` > `Record` to start recording the realistic walkthrough.

7. Save the recorded realistic walkthrough animation.

**Results**:

- A recorded realistic walkthrough animation saved in the Navisworks file.

---

### Task 4: Clash Detection

**Aim**:

To perform clash detection between the architectural and structural models, analyze the clashes, and document the results.

**Tools**:

1. Autodesk Navisworks

2. Clash Detective tool

**Procedure**:

1. Open Navisworks.

2. Load both `architecture.nwc` and `structure.nwc` files.

3. Go to `Home` > `Clash Detective`.

4. Create a new clash test by selecting the architectural model against the structural model.

5. Run the clash detection test.

6. Review and categorize the clashes:

- Approved Clashes

- Clashes to be Neglected

- Clashes to be Resolved

7. Color code the clashes based on their status.

8. Save the clash detection results.

9. Annotate and save views of the resolved clashes.

**Results**:

- Clash detection test results saved in Navisworks.

- List of approved, neglected, and resolved clashes.

- Annotated views of resolved clashes saved.

### Task 5: Timeliner Schedule Simulation

**Aim**:

To create a project schedule using the Timeliner feature in Navisworks, simulate the task completion, and record the timeline simulation.

**Tools**:

1. Autodesk Navisworks

2. Timeliner tool

**Procedure**:

1. Open Navisworks.

2. Load the `architecture.nwc` and `structure.nwc` files.

3. Go to the Timeliner tool.

4. Add tasks with reasonable start and end dates based on project assumptions.

5. Link tasks to the corresponding model elements.

6. Go to the `Simulate` tab and run the project schedule simulation.

7. Record the simulation and save it within the Navisworks file.

**Results**:

- A recorded timeline simulation of the project schedule saved in the Navisworks file.
