Usage of Collaborate tool in REVIT
Challenge Week 6
1. AIM: Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project.
PROCEDURE:
1. OPEN A NEW PROJECT. SELECT THE ARCHITECTURAL TEMPLATE.

2. SAVE THE PROJECT. DRAW THE GRIDS (ONE HORIZONTAL AND ONE VERTICAL). NOW GO TO THE MANAGE TAB > SPECIFY THE COORDINATES AT A POINT.

3. NOW CLICK ON GRIDS ONE BY ONE AND PUT VALUES FOR NORTH/SOUTH AND EAST/WEST AS 0.

2. AIM: Open another new file but with a structural template. Using the manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model.
PROCEDURE:
1. OPEN A NEW PROJECT IN THE STRUCTURAL TEMPLATE. AND SAVE THE PROJECT.

2. DRAW THE SAME 2 GRIDS IN THIS TOO SAME AS THE ARCHITECTURAL ONE.

3. AIM: Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model (enabling simultaneous working on the model).
PROCEDURE:
1. OPEN THE ARCHITECTURAL FILE. NOW GO TO THE COLLABORATE TAB AND CLICK ON COLLABORATE.

5. CHOOSE WITHIN YOUR NETWORK OPTION.

6. NOW THE THE MODEL IS SAVED AS A CENTRAL FILE.
4. AIM: Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2.
PROCEDURE:

5. AIM: Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.
PROCEDURE:

6. AIM: Open the structural model and use the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.
PROCEDURE:

7. AIM: Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model.
PROCEDURE:
1. MANAGE TAB> MANAGE LINKS> ADD. THEN ADD THE ARCHITECTURAL MODEL LINK TO THE STRUCTURAL FILE.

2. NOW WE CAN SEE THE ARCHITECTURAL FILE LINKED TO THE STRUCTURAL FILE. BUT THE POSITIONS OF THE GRID ARE DIFFERENT.

2. COLLABORATE TAB> RELOCATE PROJECT.

3. NOW GO TO COLLABORATE TAB AND CLICK ON COPY MONITOR > SELECT LINK.

4. NOW CLICK ON COPY. SELECT THE GRIDS OF THE ARCHITECTURAL MODEL AND CLICK COPY. BEFORE THAT CHECK THE MULTIPLE CHECKBOX.

5. AFTER SELECTING THE GRIDS CLICK ON FINISH TO SAVE CHANGES.

6. NOW WE CAN SEE THE COPIED GRID IN OUR STRUCTURAL FILE WITH THE COPYMONITOR SYMBOL.

8. AIM: Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.
PROCEDURE:
1. CREATE A NEW PROJECT OF CONSTRUCTION TYPE.

2. SAVE THE FILE AND ENABLE COLLABORATION. NOW UNDER THE MANAGE LINKS TAB ADD BOTH THE ARCHITECTURAL AND STRUCTURAL FILES. CLICK OK AND THEN SAVE THE FILE.

9. AIM: Are the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created? If yes the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
( Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point ) to link the models in an appropriate manner.
PROCEDURE:
1. NO. THE GRIDS OF BOTH THE LINKED MODELS IS NOT COINCIDING. SO WE WILL REPEAT THE ABOVE STEPS TO RELOCATE THE PROJECT GRID AND MAKE THEM COINCIDE EACH OTHER.

10. AIM: List a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of Construction model, Architecture & Structure model, in this exercise and understand how many people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously.
PROCEDURE:
