Challenge

Usage of Collaborate tool in REVIT

1) Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project

AIM: TO set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project

PROCEDURE:

STEP 1: Open REVIT software and in that open Architectural template

Save the file by giving appropriate name to it.

Go to Architectural tab in that select grid and draw one traverse grid line and one longitudinal grid line.

STEP 2: Go to manage tab in that select project coordinates and in that select Specify coordinates at points
Select grid line and specify shared coordinate of North/South as 0.0 and Select another grid line and specify shared
coordinates of East/West as 0.0

step 3:

result : the project base point and shared coordinates are created by using appropriate tools from revit .

2) Open another new file but with a structural template. Using the manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model

AIM: To create structural template with the same parameters as architectural project template

PROCEDURE:

STEP1:Open new file in that select Structural template and press ok

Save the file by giving appropriate name to it

step 2 : go to architectural tab in that select grid draw one travers grid line and one longitudinal line.

STEP 3: GO to manage tab in that select project coordinates and in that select Specify coordinates at points
Select grid line and specify shared coordinate of North/South as 00 and Select another grid line and specify shared
coordinates of East/West as 0.0

step 4: go to view tab select visibility graphics in that go to site and select project base point give north /south and east /west as 0.0

result :

project parameters are created as per the architectural template in structural template.

3) Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model (enabling simultaneous working on the model)

ANS:

AIM: To create architectural model a central model using collaborate tool.

PROCEDURE:

STEP1: Open the Architectural template file which has been saved earlier
Select collaborate tab and in that select collaborate. You will get a dialogue box with two options in that select the
option within your network and pres ok.

result : the architectural model is made central model using collaborate tool

4) Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2

ANS:

AIM: To create grids in longitudinal and transverse pattern

PROCEDURE:

STEP1: In Architectural tab select grids in that select pick lines and give offset of 10' in longitudinal pattern and 15 in
transverse pattern.

result : the grids are both longitudinal and transverse patteren

5) Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model

ANS:

AIM: TO synchronize the changes from local copy to contral flle.

PROCEDURE:

STEP1: Go to collaborate tab select synchronize with contral and press ok. So that tho drawing wll bo ayncod wlth

central file.

result : synchronize is done

6) Open the structural model and use the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.

AIM: To open the structural model and use the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.

PROCEDURE

STEP 1: Open the Structural template file which has been saved earlier
Select collaborate tab and in that select collaborate. You will get a dialogue box with two options in that select the
option within your network and press ok.

STEP 2: Go to collaborate tab select synchronize with central and press ok. So that the drawing will be synced with
central file.

result :

7) Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model

aim : using collaborate tab , select grids and levels from the architectural model copy it to structural model using copy monitor

procedure :

step 1 : open the architectural template file and go to the insert tab and select revit link and link the strucutal template to the architectural template file

step 2: go to collaborate tab and select copy monitor select link so structural drawing is linked. select grids and levels and select multiple and select copy and finish the command

result :

using collaborate tab grids and levels from the structural model are copied to architectural model using copy monitor.

8) Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.

aim : to create a new file with construction template which includes both architectural and structural model

procedure:

step1: open new file in that open construction template, save with appropriate name it.

step 2: select the collabrate tab and colloborate file has central file

go to manage tab and select the manage link add architectural and structural file press ok.

so that both the file will open in combined file

result:

9) Are the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created? If yes the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
( Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point ) to link the models in an appropriate manner

aim : insert the grid from structural template to architectural template check with wether its matching with each other

procedure:

step 1: open architectural template file and go to the manage tab and in that select manage link add structral template to architetural template file.

step 2: both the gride line are not coinsident each other

step 3: select the position icon in manage tab and select relocate position and select the intersection point of the grids. therefore grids are positioned

Result : structural template and architectural template are in coinsiding in construction template created.

10) List a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of Construction model, Architecture & Structure model, in this exercise and understand how many people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously
