Underbody Coating
Underbody Coating is the application of thick rubberized paint coating on the Body Frame of an Automobile. By default, each Manufacturing process of the car includes Underbody Coating.
This Coating is necessary mostly for the rust prevention of the Car body, it also allows the exterior paint to settle down for a long time. The coating provides a balanced 2-3mm surface for its smoothness at a complex corner also.
Process
In Manufacturing Units this process is designed keeping in mind the budget and the body dynamics of the car.
It may be submerged in a particular angle to let the coating reach every part of the frame.
Some processes may also be done by completely twisting the car upside down for the application of the coat.
Advantages
- It prevents the body frame of the car to rust. especially the surface which is exposed even after assembling
- It also acts as an effective sound insulation. They can reduce road noise and tyre noise and make the cabin seem quieter.
- The exterior paint applied remains intact for longtime
Disadvantage
- The process should be completed in very accurate way otherwise it may damage the frames
- This process requires accuracy which increases the cost of this process
