Underbody Coating
UNDERBODY COATING
DEFINITION
Underbody coating provides long term protection from corrosion to car's underbody. It also protects parts like internal body panels, frame rails and other inner cavities that are not physically accessible but are prone to corrosion.
Underbody coating is usually a dense cladding (often based on rubber) applied uniformly to the undercarriage of the automobile. It is normally sprayed or painted on when the car is just out of the dealership and is clean. But even if you are getting the undercoating applied after a couple of years, it’s fine too. This is because it can prevent further damage to the undercarriage.

PURPOSE OF UNDERCOATING
- The main purpose of Undercoating is to check the rust especially in the body components like frame rails along with other exposed metal parts.
- In Indian road conditions, a cars underbody is most prone to corrosion. Underbody coating provides long term protection from corrosion to car's underbody. It also protects parts like internal body panels, Frame rails and other inner cavities that are not physically accessible but are prone to corrosion.
-
While you are sitting on the driving seat enjoying the smooth ride, the underbody of your car is always exposed to muddy water, stones, rugged roads, and potholes. This makes it prone to wear and tear, which is often not in plain sight but could lead to serious issues if not taken care of.
-
The underbody of the previous models was made from durable metals such as steel, which is easily damaged and oxidized, forming rust. Nowadays underbody is made up of polycarbonate material, aluminum, and other tough materials that are more stable against corrosion.
-
The coating is the formulation of spray that is applied to the chassis protecting it from rusting.
- Applying to undercoat, as soon as you get your new car, is the best way to keep the chassis intact. This covers the undersurface saving it from road grime and other stuff.

BENEFITS OF UNDERCOATING
- Fights Rust

- Reduces Noise
It minimizes the sound from underneath the car resulting a noiseless, smooth driving experience.
- Heat Insulation
It insulates the interior of the car from extreme temperatures from beneath the vehicle providing a comfortable cabin experience.
- Anti-chipping property
If any stone hits the coating it does not get chipped away hence protects the underbody from exposure to water.
- Prolong's Car's Life
* Good undercoating not only defends the underbody from corrosion but also protects the engine and transmission as well.
* Less rusting coupled with slower wear and tear can surely add years to the lifespan of your vehicle.
