Underbody Coating
UNDERBODY COATING: It is the process in which application of rust preventing layer is done in underbody of the vehicle , that prevents from corrosion of metal parts, prevent from the rust and also the stones chips comes through the tyre that leads to small dents.
here is differenciate between, rust protection generally goes inside of your vehicle , while underbody coating is used for protection outside of your vehicle.
Types of under body coating:
RUBBERIZED UNDERBODY COATING :here, we apply rubber agent to the underbelly of the car, to protect and cushion it against dents, dust and moisture. when it gets dries it gives rubbery finish. * it is easy to apply and safe. * example: 3M3584 professional grade rubberized underbody coating.
POLYURETHANE UNDERCOATING: it is another option in which polyurethane-base sealant is used. it is little bit quicker to apply. it requires sanding of the are before applying. it has long life span, and is easy to remove by sanding.
ex: ADAM'S SiO2 infused.
Wax/praffin based caoting:
it is the cheapest and quicker option available, but will quicker wear off, and iit is required applied once in a year.
it doesn't truly harden, it can be applied by spray gun. it is aim to vehicle that are for highway & normal roads only.
EX: fluid film 1,
ASHPALT-BASED UNDERCOATING: it is siad to be most damaged resistant properties have , it is the coating that is ideal for the trucks, military and terrian vehicles . it has self life of approx 2 years and it is dense than others.
it does take time to get harden, it is required more cure time. it is NOT paintable.
ex: rust bullet.
WATER BASED UNDERCOATING: is a provides protective layer that helps coating stay protected under harsh whether conditions. it is made up of advance polymer that is non toxic, & environment friendly. it can be applied to any surface like plastic, rubber, wood, glass. it prevents from rust, salt and moisture. it does last for one year that depends upon your drive condition. it can be applied within one day. it is thicker and takes short time to get dry. it can be done at home.
* it can not repel ice & water like other ppetrolium based coating
Ex: CRC SP-300 CORROSION INHIBITOR.
Petrolium based undercoating:
Is a heavy viscous oil-based liquied product that provides an effective barrier against moisture and corrosion. the liquied dries and hardens to provide tough, durable & long lasting protection against moisture and corrosion.
, it have greater abilities to deflects for road salt, & grims, it does repels ice and water. but it requires to apply once in a year.
