Tool Test 1

Objective :

To generate midsurface and to create a mesh on the given models using the ANSA software.

  • Import the given model to ANSA.
  • Check the geomentry using checks.
  • Extract the mid surface manually or auto.
  • Mesh the extracted geomentry with given quality criteria.

Procedure :

MODEL 1

Step 1: Importing the switch panel geomentry to the Ansa software. After importing the model check whether it has any glitches or not and remove them by topo and length parameter in mesh.

Step 2 : Now we have to clear the unchecked faces using the checks manager before going for mid surfacing. Execute the geomentry on checks manager and fix it.

Step 3 : To extract the midsurface first we need to see geomentry for how many features it consists and it has varying thickness or not and to measure thickness and store them. In this switch panel model it consists of so many features and varying thickness so we have to do mid surfacing manually.

Step 4 : First extract the main body beacuse it has constant thickness and then extract remaining features. Here for some ribs we will use curves> middle option to extract the midsurface.

Step 5 : After extracting all mid surfaces now we have to seperate it from main component and store it seperately to do that wiil use lock manager option.

Step 6 : Now we have to assign quality criteria and also add the properties to the geomentry and clean the geomentry because model has some features there elements will fail. To clean we use cut option and remove the unwanted features.

Step 7 : Now we ready for the meshing, first go for the simple features and select the best option to do mesh. Complete the mesh for the extracted geomentry.

Step 8 : After meshing the geomentry we need to remove the off elements or failed elements by using reconstruction or smooth option. Some elements still even we performed reconstruction and smooth operations for those elements we have to use split hybrid option.

Step 9 : Thus the complete and clean mesh is done and save the file.

MODEL 2

Step 1: Import the another model which is in Igs format to the ansa software.

In this switch panel model it consists of so many features but it has uniform thickness so we have to do mid surfacing auto.

Step 4 : Extract the mid surface automatically using mid surface option.

Step 5 : Assign the PID to the extracted midsurface geomentry.

Step 6 : Now we have to assign quality criteria and clean the geomentry because model has some features there elements will fail.

Results : Thus we have extracted mid surfacing and mesh the geomentries with quality criteria for both models.

This is the link for above models : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oiOFziT7X4wiQ0c1pkSMub8SjOd4GBJC/view?usp=sharing

Conclusion : Thus learnt how to clean the geomentry in which elements will fail for quality criteria.

Time to complete this tool test for both model is 2 days.
