AIM: To Setup model for RC building design and based on following parameters for cover as mention above.

PROCEDURE:

STEP: 1

  • Open TSD software
  • click on new
  • new TSD file will open

STEP: 2

  • Go to Home-> Settings -> Structural defaults
  • For members in contact with ground:
  • Select the SSL for the cover in contact with the ground
  • enter the cover values as given in the above table.

STEP: 3

  • For members above the ground:
  • For the cover above the ground change default type to TOF
  • Apply the cover to the slabs

RESULT:

Hence, the cover has been provided to the desiered concrete materials.

2. Model grids as per the attachment 2,2.1 and 2.2

AIM: To Model the grids as per the attachment 2,2.1 and 2.2

PROCEDURE: Gridlines are an important element as they helps us in placing the elemenst with accuracy.

Gridlines are used to locate the columns and beams position in a structure.

STEP: 1

  • open the file from the above .

STEP: 2

  • Go to model -> grid line
  • Pick the first vertical line as 1 and select the Quick parallel and draw the remaining grids.

STEP: 3

  • Similarly draw the horizontal grids.

RESULT:

Hence, the grids are modeled as per attachment provided.

3. Study the layout and write a summary for general arrangement of the structure.

AIM: To Study the layout and write a summary for general arrangement of the structure.

PROCEDURE:

We need to study the layout and decide whether the layout is poosible according the structure behaviours and this happens before starting the design of any structure. We also need to check that the columns placement is done at the place where it does not interfere with the passage or windows/doors.

  • As provided the layout RC building will be modeled, analyzed and designed in challenges.
  • This structure consist of base level, ground floor, first floor and roof floor.
  • It is a RC Office building with stairs and corridor
  • The size of the building is 19225mmx10700mm on ground.
  • The column and beam sizes about to be modeled are 225x300mm.

EXPLANATION:

  • GROUND FLOOR PLAN
    • The ground floor consist of 225 brick work wall.
    • It has rooms like reception, meeting room, store room, office room ,toilet and staircase.
  • FIRST FLOOR PLAN

    • The first floor also consist of 225 brick work wall.
    • It consist of room likes conference room, 2 office rooms, common room, store room , toilet and staircase area.
    • First floor also has 2 corridors on 2 sides of the buildings with 19.225x2.620mm dimension
  • ROOF FLOOR PLAN

  • It has a flat roof

Summary

  • Above shown is the column arrangement according to the plan
  • As you notice one column line is not at the grid line 2
  • We need to adjust the arrangement according to the entrance.
  • The blue line shows the secondary beams
  • Secondary beams are provided when the distance between 2 beams are high
  • To reduce the deflection of the beams we provide secondary beams
  • and we dsign the primary beams for torsion which support the secondary beam.
  • the greem line show the primary beams

RESULT:

Hence, the layout is shown, explained and discussed above.

4. Model RC columns, beams and slabs as per your general arrangement.

AIM: To Model RC columns, beams and slabs as per your general arrangement .

PROCEDURE:

STEP: 1

  • open the file from the above Q.2 .

STEP: 2

  • Go to model panel
  • Constructution level->enter the details of the levels you want
  • we have G+1 floor level in this plan
  • After entering the detail->Click OK

STEP: 3

  • Go to Home-> settings
  • in settings -click on - Design codes
  • check for indian code to be active
  • In settings -click on -CONCRETE - BEAM - REINFORCEMENT SETTINGS
  • Edit the requiered
  • SIMILARLLY, In settings -click on -CONCRETE - COLUMN - REINFORCEMENT LAYOUT
  • Edit the requiered

STEP: 4 Creating the members:

  • Beam in contact with ground:
  • Go to Home -> manage property sets -> new -> member -> concrete beams -> Rename {Beam in contact with ground}
  • Edit the requiered

  • Beam above the ground:
  • Go to Home -> manage property sets -> new -> member -> concrete beams -> Rename {Beam above the ground}
  • Edit the requiered

  • Column below ground level:
  • Go to Home -> manage property sets -> new -> member -> concrete column -> Rename {Column in contact with ground level}
  • Edit the requiered

  • Column above ground level:
  • Go to Home -> manage property sets -> new -> member -> concrete column -> Rename {Column above ground level}
  • Edit the requiered
  • Slab in contact with ground:
  • Go to Home -> manage property sets -> new -> slab -> General slab items -> Rename {Slab in contact with ground}
  • Edit the requiered
  • Slab above ground:
  • Go to Home -> manage property sets -> new -> slab -> General slab items -> Rename {Slab above ground}
  • Edit the requiered
  • Pile cape:
  • Go to Home -> manage property sets -> new -> Pile cap -> rename{PC1}
  • edit the required.

STEP: 5 Modeling column:

  • Go to Base level-> concrete column and select the following property in the property window and select the grids to place the column.
  • Draw a grid 6 to create columns in between.
  • Go to ground level and follow the same procedure.

STEP: 6 Modeling beams:

  • Go to ground floor-> concrete beam and select the following property in the property window and select the columns to connect
  • Create a grid D to create the beam near stairs.
  • Follow the same procedure on first floor
  • Follow the same procedure on roof level.

STEP : 7 Modeling slab:

  • Go to ground floor-> slab on beams and select the following property in the property window and click inside the beams
  • Follow the same procedure on first floor
  • Follow the same procedure on roof level.

RESULT:

Hence, the members are placed as requied and the model can be seen in 3D view as below.
