To calculate dead and live load for industrial steel structures and to apply them using TSD
1.Calculate dead load in design report based on IS code and apply dead load on the model,
Finishes of 50mm
Slab as per design
Brickwall 150mm thickness
Roofing load based on purlin size
Ceiling loading 0f 0.3KN per sq m
Answer -
Load Calculations -
a. Dead Load of 1.2 kn/m^2.
b. Finishes - 50 mm x 24 kn/m^3. = 1.2 kn/m^2.
c. Brickwall Load = 0.15 x 20 x 5.2 = 15.6 kn/m^2. (Ground to intermidiate floor)
d. Brickwall Load = 0.15 x 20 x 6.8 = 20.4 kn/m^2. (Intermidiate to Roof floor)
e. Brickwall Load = 0.15 x 20 x 4.8 = 14.4 kn/m^2. (Roof to Top floor)
f. Roof Load = 1.5 kn/m^2.
g. Ceiling Load = 0.3 kn/m.
Now open the Tekla Software.
Open the week 3 file where we have created a steel structure.
Next go to the model tab and select slab in beam option.
Now add slab to each floor.
Next go to the load tab and select load cases.
Next we have added load combinations.

Next we have to add the finishes loads to ground load upto roof level.

Next we have to add to brickwall loads and ceiling loads to ground floor upto roof level.
Finally, we have to add the roof load.

2. Calculate live load in design report based on IS code and apply live load on the model,
Assume the loading based on IS 875
Roof loading
Consider equipment loading as 5KN per sq m
Answer -
Based on the IS 875 the live loads are applied as follows.
Workshop = 5 kn/m^2.
Staircase = 5 kn/m^2.
Corridor = 5 kn/m^2.
Meeting Room = 5 kn/m^2.
Store Room = 5 kn/m^2.
Toilet = 2 kn/m^2.
Canteen = 3 kn/m^2.
Office Room = 3 kn/m^2.
Conference Room = 5 kn/m^2.
Equipement Room = 10 kn/m^2.
Rest Room = 2 kn/m^2.
Administrative Room = 5 kn/m^2.
The Live loads are applied for the all floors.

3. Generate a calculation for 5T crane loading based on following inputs
Centre to Centre of wheel = 10m,
Weight of crab = 40 KN,
Number of wheels = 4,
Wheel base = 2m
