Sketch a G+1 residential plan according to Vaastu Shastra and Calculation of Loads as per IS code

Aim Of The Project

Sketch a G+1 floor residential plan, according to Vaastu Shastra, and list down the names of the structural drawings required to be provided to the site for construction.

Also, assume the sizes of the structural elements (Column, Beam, Slab, etc.,) and accordingly calculate the individual corresponding loads from the members as per IS code

Part 1. - To Sketch a G+1 floor residential plan, according to Vaastu Shastra

Ground Floor & First Floor Plan are as follows

Vastu Shastra Followed during planning is

1.Entrance of the house is provided in the east direction which is the symbol of progress in life.

2.Living room is placed in North East direction.

3.Master bedroom is provided in south west position this direction brings good health and prospority.

4.Kitchen is placed in south east direction

5.Study room is placed in east direction.

6.Staircase is placed at Northwest Corner.

7.Bathroom,WC and toilet palced at West direction.

Part 2. - list down the names of the structural drawings required to be provided to the site for construction

1.Centre Line Drawing

2.Footing and Column Layout with reinforcement details.

3.Column Schedule with reinforcement details.

4.Plinth Beam Layout with reinforcement details.

5.First Floor Beam Layout with reinforcement details.

6.First Floor Slab with reinforcement details.

7.Lift Pit & Headroom reinforcement details.

Part 3. To Assume the sizes of the structural elements (Column, Beam, Slab, etc.,) and accordingly calculate the individual corresponding loads from the members as per IS code.

Columns - 300x300 mm

Beams - 300x450 mm

Slab Thickness - 125 mm

Wall Thickness - 230 mm

Height of GF - 300 mm

Height of First Floor - 300 mm

Dead Load Calculations

Volume of Concrete = 0.30 x 0.30 x 6.25 =0.562 m³
Weight of Concrete = 0.562 x 2400 = 1348.8 kg
Weight of Steel (1%) in Concrete = 0.562x 0.01 x 7850 = 44.11 kg
Total Weight of Column = 1348.8+ 44.11 = 1392.91 kg = 13.92KN

Beams Size 300mm x 450mm

Volume of Concrete = 0.30 x 0.45 x 1 =0.135 m³
Weight of Concrete = 0.135 x 2400 = 324 kg
Weight of Steel (2%) in Concrete = 0.135 x 2% x 7850 = 21.19 kg
Total Weight of Column = 324 + 21.19 = 345.19 kg/m = 3.45 KN/m

Slab

Slab thickness - 125mm

Total Volume of slab - 1x1x0.125 = 0.125 m^3.

unit weight of concrete - 25 kn/m^3.

Dead load of slab - 0.125x25=3.12 kn /m^2.

Walls

Wall Thikness - 230 mm

Height of the wall - 3 m

Volume of wall - 0.23x3=0.69

Unit weight of bricks =20 kn /m^3.

Dead load of wall = 20x0.69 =13.8 kn/m

Live Load Calculations

Bed Room - 2 kn/sq.m

Living Room -2 kn/sq.m

Kitchen - 2 kn/sq.m

Bathroom - 2 kn/sq.m

Study Room - 2 kn/sq.m

Terrace - 3 kn/sq.m

Staircase - 3 kn/sq.m

Wind Load Calculations

According to IS 875 - Part 3 ,wind load is to be considered when the height of building is more than 10 m.

As there is not that case ,we do not have to consider about wind load.
