Challenge

To Analysis and Design of Steel Structures using TSD

1)

Aim - Summarize your study for the bending moment, shear force and deflection diagrams for the elements of the model

Procedure -

  • Open the week 5 tekla file
  • In load panel under seismic load select seismic wizard

  • Check structure details and seismic zone and site class

  • Also check structure irregularities

  • Now check fundamental period

  • After that, check seismic force resisting system and also select type and system which we required
  • Select moment frame system and steel building with OMRF for 1st direction
  • Select braced frame system and building with SBF and concentric bracing for 2nd direction

  • Select the loads as self weight, slab self weight, dead and imposed

  • Select the seismic combination

  • In load combination, generate the load combination

  • Now before starting the analysis check the factors
  • In setting under modification factor select steel and all the values is 1.00

  • For analysis of structure, select 1st order analysis
  • Now select the load combination
  • After that go to result view in the bottom right corner
  • In result panel, select Moment Major and also select axis
  • Moment Major

  • Axial force

2)

Aim - Based on the analysis design the members and outline the thought process in selecting the member sizes along with the foundation design

Procedure -

  • Now for the design of foundation click on foundation tab
  • Under foundation panel, select pad base column and draw in base level
  • Select the column and draw the foundation
  • Similarly provide foundation to all columns

  • Now check the foundation
