Structural analysis of a buidling using Robot Structural Analysis
Ans 1:- HVAC system is one of the important component in the modelling of a building. The term HVAC stands for the Heating, ventilating and Air conditioning, now lets get into these terms , heating means to increase the temperature of input Air which flows into the building, ventilation can be defined as the replacement of the old air present in the room, with new fresh air this can also be said as input of fresh air and output of stale and bad air. Air conditioning is a well known term which means to allow cool air into the building.
HVAC systems have become mandatory in these days as the technology is developed and every one is used to comforts with proper HVAC systems we can increase the sustainability and condition of the building environment. It also improves the comforts and increase the mood of workability of the members.
Mainly these HVAC systems are used at malls, office and large clubs where the population is more, As the population is more, more amount of air will be required otherwise it leads to suffocation. These days people have started paying more interest regarding their health, with the help of automatic HVAC systems we can control the internal temperature very easily.
If the outside temperature is more automatically the cooling system will on and moderates the temperature by allowing more cool fresh. If the inside temperature is cold the system activates the heating system or heaters. Which gradually increase the temperature and makes us feel comfortable, So HVAC systems are important and are essential in modelling of the building.
Ans 2:-
Aim To add HVAC systems for each floor created in week 7 and include all the related components like distribution centre, collectors and ducts and blowers.
- TOOLS USED:
- Mechanical template
- Collaborate tool
- Manage links
- Specify coordinates
- Aquired coordinates
- Air terminals
- Supply diffusers
- Return diffusers
- Duct
- Air handling unit
PROCEDURE:
Open the revit and open the mechanical template
- Go to collaborate tab and click on collaborate tool

- Next collaborate dialog box appears select within network

- Select manage link option and add the architectural model to the mechanical model
- Then select acquired coordinates and select the project to set the coordinates same as the host model
- Select the system tab and add supplier and air terminal in each room
- option and click ok.

- now the HVAC system is setup repeat the same process for all the floors in the building

Ans 3:- Steps to add ins tab to load plug ins for robot structural analysis:
- First check weaither the robot structural analysis is enabled or disabled.
- If not available we have to download it from auto desk store
- Click on the trolley logo / shopping cart logo in the top of revit
- The Autodesk store opens in the search box type structure analysis followed by respective version/year of the revit software
- Then download the tool
- The robot structural analysis will be reflected in our revit software.
Ans 4:-structure is one of the important component in building. We cant imagine or achieve a successful building without a proper structure. The structure framework acts as a Skelton framework to the building. All the loads are being taken by the structural part. The architecture part only plays an important role in the appearance of the building.
Structure analysis is very important to a building as to know how much load can the building bear of the building can with hold the loads. Before the construction of the building we do not have all the components installed in the building like walls and other components so before we can construct the building we have to do the analysis on taking appropriate load values to calculate how much load the structure can bear. After the construction of the building if the structure collapses as it cant hold the load then we wont be able to do anything. We can calculate the total; load, SFD,BMD and deflections.
Structure analysis can also be considered as a demo test or sample test to get a detailed strength of the structure. Ina building we have many types of load like point load, uniform load, area load etc. so in the analysis we can add the type of load we want and assume the load values to test our structure it is considered better if the structure holds more load than the load capacity calculated in the analysis.
The design affects the model so we have to place the columns at such a places where they do not cause much disturbances and at a places where it can hold maximum amount of load,so thus we can conclude that it is necessary to do the structure analysis while modelling elements and we can say that the design affects modelling.
Ans 5:-
AIM:- to perform robot structure analysis to the building created in the previous week.
- Boundary conditions are the conditions which are to be satisfied at all parts of a boundary region where differential conditions have to be solved separately for the analysis of the structure we have to have the loads so we have to assume suitable amount of load for the analysis we have forces in any directions along X,Y,Z We have to assume that the total moment as O and the structure Is in equilibrium we have to place loads at suitable places so as to complete the analysis the list of parameters required are:
- Degree of freedom
- Supports
- Type of loads
- Opposing loads
- We can apply different types of loads based on our requirements like Dead load, Live load, Earth quake loads wind load
- The total number of floors in my building are three floors including the GF (G+3 floors)
0.9DL+-1.5EL,(ELx+-0.3Ely)(+-0.3ELx+Ely)(+-ELx+-0.3Ely)(+-0.3ELx+Ely) these are the 4 conditions of the x and y coordinates.
d.Analysis the building and report the following results
- maximum moment in each floor for all load combinations
- maximum displacements in each floor for all load combinations
iii. lateral displacements in building for all lateral combinations
PROCEDURE:
First we have to open the structure template file which was created previously for Week 6
- Go to manage tab and click on structural settings and start adding the load combinations.
- Click on the boundary conditions and set it to be fixed.

Ans 6:-
Energy Analysis is a way where we can calculate the amount of energy used in an operation which involves physical and chemical actions which also plays a role in transferring and exchange of energy with the help of energy analysis we can realize the in and out volume of air through the opinions and rooms , with these analysis we can find out the defects in our project and rectify the plan in which we do not have any problems from the environment.
In this analysis all the components are taken into considerations like electric equipment’s and other equipment’s which releases heat into the environment. The energy analysis is very important in the modelling of project in revit because if the energy released is more it may cause human and environment damage.
We have to implement different techniques where the energy released could be minimized like using renewable sources of energy like solar panels, biomass , wind energy and so on. We have to recycle most of the products which does not cause more damage to the environment.
We can perform the energy analysis for revit models by using energy analysis for Autodesk revit. The add in connects the design power of the revit project file to the Autodesk green building studio which acts as basic constrain for calculation and evaluation.
