Challenge

Structural analysis of a buidling using Robot Structural Analysis

Aim : 1) What are HVAC systems? Why are they essential in the modeling of buildings

Procedure :

1. HVAC means Heat Ventilation and Air Conditioning

2. HVAC systems control the overall climate in the building

3. HVAC systems not only regulate the temperature inside the building

4. The quality of air pertains to humidity, and a typical HVAC system will reduce the amount of humidity in the air so your workers and employees can continue enjoying a cozy and pleasant atmosphere at work.

5. The quality of air pertains to humidity, and a typical HVAC system will reduce the amount of humidity in the air

6. An HVAC system reduces stuffiness in a room that may not have natural airflow

7. Proper HVAC systems are a worthy investment for any business or building owner because it gives you energy savings.

Aim : 3) Use the add-ins tab to load plug-ins for robot structural analysis to your Revit software

Procedure :

1. Go to autodesk app store in Revit

2. And search structural Analysis Toolkit

3. There will be various verions.

4. Based on your sofware version select it and download it.

5. After downloading just right click on it and run as administrator

6. And Install it

Aim : 4) Why do we need to assess buildings/analyze while modeling elements? Does design affect modeling in anyways?

Procedure :

1. Checking model assumptions is essential prior to building a model that will be used for prediction. If assumptions are not met, the model may inaccurately reflect the data and will likely result in inaccurate predictions.

2. It helps in Calculating Individual Forces and Loads

3. Analysis model operates as a link between the 'system description' and the 'design model'. In the analysis model, information, functions and the behaviour of the system is defined and these are translated into the architecture, interface and component level design in the 'design modeling

4. It can Analyze each and every individual elements.

It helps to cross check the engineering Designs

Aim : 5) From the structural model developed in week 6 and 7, export the complete analytical model to robot structural analysis.
a. List your assumptions on what boundary conditions will be realistic for the analysis approach
b. Use the design standards to decide what loads must be applied to floorings based on the type of structure decided
c. List the load combinations and include them in the analysis model
d. Analyze the building and report the following results
i. Maximum Moment in each floor for all Load Combinations
ii. Maximum Displacement in each floor for all Load combinations
iii. Lateral Displacement in building for all Lateral Load combinations
e. After analysis, do you think you have a better approach or idea in modeling structural members?

Procedure :

1. For the Load Combinations Open the Model from the Week 7 challenge.

2. Go to the analyze tab

3. After that click on the Structural analytical model

4.First go to Load Cases

5. Add the load which were to be added for your model.

6. Then go to the Load Combination and add the aLoad for combination (Dead load + Live Load) and show the total Load for your model.

7. Then go to Boundary Condition and click Analytical Model.

8. Select any one option from 3 (Point, area or Line.)

9. And the Boundary conditions are fullfilled accordingly to the given model

Aim : 6) What is energy analysis and why do we need to consider it while modeling in Revit?

How does the factor of sustainability improve the quality of your design?

Procedure :

1. Energy analysis can help you analyze the movement of energy in, out, and through the rooms and volumes in a building model

2. Energy Analysis is easy to perform in revit than other Program.

3. Based on the inputs provided by Revit such as location, weather data, and thermal properties, the energy model is generated in the form of base color codes for different components in order to be simulated by Insight.

4. It gives prefernce to non toxic materials

5. It emphasize the Quality and durability over the Price.

Conclusion : Hence the Challenge 8 is Completed
